The Member of Parliament for the Tamale North Constituency, Alhassan Suhuyini, has expressed strong confidence in securing approximately 80% of the votes in his constituency for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, in the upcoming December 7 elections.
Suhuyini, speaking during a recent media interview, emphasized his optimism about the NDC’s chances, believing that this election will be one of the easiest for the party.
“In the past, we have done between 60-65%, our prayer and hope this time around, and because of the assurances we’re given, is that we will make about 80%. We will get 80% of the votes for His Excellency John Dramani Mahama,” Suhuyini stated confidently. He believes the people of northern Ghana have already decided who is best suited to lead the country forward. Despite both presidential candidates being from the north, Suhuyini predicted an easy victory for the NDC, asserting that they have a stronger chance of winning the election.
“Inshallah, these elections are going to be the easiest. It’s not going to be the toughest at all, and for us, in the northern region, our minds are made up; we have decided already on who cares about our welfare,” Suhuyini continued. He underscored the impact of John Mahama’s leadership in improving the lives of people in the north, citing several accomplishments during Mahama’s tenure as president and vice president. He mentioned how Mahama’s leadership made the pilgrimage easier, ensured that markets in the region received attention, and boosted the construction of hospitals that promoted their well-being.
Suhuyini went on to elaborate on why the people of northern Ghana support Mahama, stating, “We have two of them coming from this part of the country, but we have tasted both of them in government, and we know who cares about us and who doesn’t. So, it’s not going to be a very tough election as people are anticipating. Inshallah, by the grace of God, it’s going to be a walkover for His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.”
The MP made these remarks during an interview after filing his nomination at the Sagnarigu Electoral Commission office, where he will contest for a third consecutive term as the parliamentary candidate for the Tamale North Constituency. Suhuyini’s confidence reflects a broader optimism within the NDC ranks, as they prepare for what they hope will be a decisive victory in the upcoming elections.
As the election date draws closer, the focus will be on how well the NDC can galvanize support, particularly in key regions like the north, where they believe they have a significant advantage. Suhuyini’s confidence in delivering 80% of the votes in Tamale North underscores the party’s broader strategy to secure a substantial margin in the upcoming elections.
The MP remains optimistic that, with the support of the people, they can achieve their goal of a decisive win for Mahama, who he believes is best positioned to address the needs and concerns of the people of northern Ghana and the entire country.
