Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has declared that her decision to divorce her ex-husband, Olakunle Churchill, was the best choice she has ever made. In a recent exchange, she shared her experience and advice with a fellow single mother who reached out to her via Instagram.
The single mother had asked Dikeh how she managed to cope when her ex-husband left her and their child. Dikeh responded by clarifying that it was actually she who decided to leave the marriage, emphasizing that it was a necessary step for both her own well-being and that of her child. “First and foremost, I was the one who chose to walk away from my marriage, not the other way around. I needed to escape a difficult situation, not just for my own sake, but for my child as well. Best decision I ever made,” Dikeh wrote.
In her message to the fellow single mother, Dikeh highlighted the importance of personal growth and self-investment. She encouraged the woman to recognize her own power to achieve her aspirations, provided she remains committed to her personal development.
Dikeh shared her thoughts more broadly on Instagram, stating, “Dear single mothers, I don’t have a manual for these things. I am neither a pro in this movement. My biggest teacher has been love. I just let God do his thing, and his thing is enough for me. Draw strength from God, and most especially, keep your family matters private.”
This public reflection comes years after Dikeh’s marriage to Churchill ended in 2017 amid allegations of infidelity and domestic violence. The marriage, which produced a son, has been marked by ongoing public disputes. Despite their separation, the former couple has continued to exchange barbs on social media, with Dikeh accusing Churchill of being a negligent father. Churchill, on the other hand, has claimed that Dikeh has obstructed his access to their child.
