NADMO Completes Successful Staff Audit and Headcount in Ahafo Region

The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has successfully concluded a comprehensive audit and headcount of its officers in the Ahafo Region, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen accountability and operational efficiency. The exercise aligns with the vision of Director General Dr. Joseph Bikanyi Kuyon (RTD) and the government’s commitment to eliminating “ghost names” from the payroll, ensuring that every staff member receives remuneration strictly for work performed.

A delegation from NADMO’s headquarters, led by SPDCO Training Marvin Mireku and DCDCO HR Senyo Agboada, visited the region to oversee the audit. The team carried out a meticulous count of personnel at the Ahafo Regional Secretariat as well as all six administrative districts: Tano North, Tano South, Asutifi North, Asutifi South, Asunafo North, and Asunafo South. The exercise combined both headcount verification and internal auditing to validate the legitimacy of staff records, leaving no room for error or manipulation.

Speaking during the exercise, national officers emphasized the need for vigilance in all validation processes. “We urge all Regional, Municipal, and District Directors, as well as accountants, administrators, and internal auditors, to exercise the highest level of integrity. Any attempt to validate staff illegally will have serious ramifications,” the team said. Their guidance underlined the government’s zero-tolerance stance on payroll fraud and the importance of ethical governance in public service.

The Ahafo Regional Director of NADMO, who also serves as Dean of all Regional Directors, Nana Adu Bonsu Gabriel, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the national delegation for their visit and professional execution of the exercise. He noted that the initiative provides a significant opportunity to enhance accountability and operational transparency in the region.

“We are extremely grateful to the national team for their thorough and dedicated work,” Director Gabriel Bonsu stated. “This exercise not only strengthens our internal controls but also reinforces NADMO’s commitment to serving the people efficiently and responsibly.”

He further emphasized that NADMO in the Ahafo Region is committed to building a disaster-resilient community while elevating the profile of the organization across the nation. “Our focus is to ensure that every staff member is accounted for and that the organization maintains a culture of transparency and integrity,” he added.

The headcount exercise also served as a platform for knowledge transfer between national and regional officers. Staff at all levels, including accountants, administrators, and internal auditors, were reminded of the ethical responsibilities tied to staff validation and payroll management. “Our operations depend on accurate reporting and strict adherence to procedure. This exercise reinforces the standards expected of everyone at NADMO,” the national team said.

Over the years, NADMO has played a critical role in disaster management and emergency response across Ghana. From flooding and fire outbreaks to health emergencies and environmental hazards, the organization has been at the forefront of protecting lives and property. By ensuring proper staffing records, NADMO strengthens its capacity to respond efficiently to disasters, while safeguarding public funds and enhancing public trust.

The exercise also highlighted the importance of collaboration across all levels of the organization. Deputy Directors and administrative staff in the region were praised for their cooperation, which was instrumental in completing the headcount without disruption. Their engagement demonstrates the growing professionalism within NADMO’s regional structures and the willingness of staff to support national reforms.

Director Gabriel Bonsu acknowledged the contributions of all staff, emphasizing that their participation was key to the success of the audit. “I commend every member of our regional and district teams for their cooperation and active engagement during this exercise. Your commitment ensures that NADMO continues to uphold the highest standards of accountability,” he said.

The successful completion of the exercise is expected to have long-term benefits for both staff and the organization. By verifying and auditing personnel records, NADMO minimizes the risk of fraudulent claims, ensuring that public funds are used appropriately. Moreover, it strengthens the credibility of the organization in the eyes of government stakeholders, donors, and the communities it serves.

National officers concluded their visit by encouraging continuous vigilance in all NADMO offices across the country. They reminded staff that adherence to proper procedures and ethical practices is essential for maintaining the integrity of the organization.

“This exercise is not just a one-time event; it sets a benchmark for all regions. NADMO will continue to conduct regular audits and validations to ensure operational excellence and accountability,” the national team stated.

With this successful audit, NADMO in the Ahafo Region has demonstrated its readiness to uphold transparency, efficiency, and good governance. The exercise reflects the organization’s broader mission to protect lives, manage disasters effectively, and maintain public confidence through ethical administration.

The collaboration between national officers and regional staff underscores the importance of teamwork, accountability, and professional conduct in achieving organizational goals. By completing the headcount and audit successfully, NADMO has reinforced its commitment to excellence, public trust, and disaster preparedness, setting a strong example for other regions nationwide.
