Rudeboy Confirms Permanent Split with Twin Brother, Peter Okoye

Nigerian musician Paul Okoye, famously known as Rudeboy of the P-Square duo, has once again confirmed his intention to permanently part ways with his twin brother, Peter Okoye. This news comes despite the duo’s earlier reconciliation in 2021, which had given fans hope for a full reunion.

Paul, in a candid Instagram live session on Wednesday, expressed his frustrations, citing issues that have lingered between the two. During the session, Paul emphasized that the imbalance in their work relationship was a significant reason for the split. He revealed that he felt burdened by the fact that he did most of the work, while others, including his brother, reaped the benefits.

In his own words, spoken in pidgin, Paul stated, “Those days of monkey dey work, baboon dey chop, I no dey do again. So I would rather continue working for myself. Every time, only me dey sing all the songs. I no dey do again.” His comments have sparked widespread reactions among fans, many of whom have expressed their disappointment over the persistent fallout between the two brothers.

The rift between the Okoye twins became public after Paul accused Peter of petitioning the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to arrest him. This accusation deepened the cracks in their relationship, which has been strained since their initial split in 2017. Despite reuniting in 2021, it seems that the underlying issues were never fully resolved.

Paul’s frustration over the perceived imbalance in their contributions to P-Square’s success adds a new layer to the ongoing feud. He claimed that he was responsible for most of the singing, while his brother and others benefitted equally from their shared fame. This feeling of inequality has evidently taken its toll on Paul, leading to his decision to walk away from the duo.

The P-Square brothers first went their separate ways in 2017 after a highly publicized dispute. The split shocked fans across Africa and the world, as P-Square had become one of the most iconic music groups to come out of Nigeria. Their hits like “No One Like You,” “Personally,” and “Do Me” had cemented their place in the hearts of music lovers globally.

Their 2021 reunion, which came after years of animosity, was seen as a positive development, with many fans hopeful that the Okoye twins could rebuild their relationship both personally and professionally. However, it now appears that the reunion was short-lived, and the deep-seated issues between the brothers remain unresolved.

In recent interviews, Paul has mentioned that the rift with his brother is more complicated than the public understands. While fans have often speculated about the reasons behind their fallout, Paul’s latest comments suggest that the disagreements go beyond personal conflicts and extend to professional grievances. His insistence on moving forward with his solo career reflects his determination to prioritize his own well-being and creative freedom.

For fans of P-Square, the latest developments are undoubtedly disappointing. The duo’s music had become synonymous with Afrobeats, and their energetic performances and chart-topping songs had garnered them millions of fans worldwide. The possibility of a permanent split signals the end of an era in Nigerian music.

While Paul Okoye continues to pursue his solo career as Rudeboy, his brother Peter, who performs as Mr. P, has also made significant strides in his own solo endeavors. Both brothers have released solo projects, though the magic of P-Square remains unmatched in the eyes of many fans.

As the story continues to unfold, fans are left wondering whether there is any hope for future reconciliation between the brothers. For now, it seems that Paul is set on moving forward independently, leaving behind the days of P-Square’s shared success.

Despite the ongoing tension, both brothers remain influential figures in the Nigerian music industry, each carving out their own path. The legacy of P-Square, however, will undoubtedly live on, as their contributions to Afrobeats continue to inspire both fans and fellow musicians alike.
