Suriname’s Ambassador Backs Participation in Regal Influence Summit 2026

By Kingsley Asiedu

ACCRA, Ghana — Suriname’s Ambassador to Ghana has expressed strong support for her country’s participation in the Regal Influence Summit 2026 after a diplomatic engagement with the summit’s organizers on Tuesday.

Ambassador Fidelia Graand-Galon met with a delegation led by Rev. Kennedy Okosun, Executive Chairman of the Krif Foundation, to discuss Suriname’s potential involvement in the high-profile business and leadership gathering scheduled for January 23–25, 2026. The summit aims to convene government officials, business leaders, entrepreneurs, and investors from the region and the international community.

During the meeting, Rev. Okosun extended a formal invitation to Surinamese government officials and private-sector leaders to participate in the summit. He emphasized that the event is designed to deepen economic and diplomatic ties across emerging markets while creating broader avenues for investment partnerships.

Ambassador Graand-Galon warmly welcomed the invitation, noting that the summit presents a significant opportunity to highlight Suriname’s underexplored economic potential. She identified agriculture, tourism, and entrepreneurship as priority sectors ready for international collaboration. She further pointed to the rising prospects of developing a commercial cocoa industry in Suriname, emphasizing the country’s favorable climate and arable land, which make collaboration with Ghana’s cocoa sector both practical and promising.

“Suriname is a country of significant potential, and we are ready to explore new partnerships that can support sustainable growth,” she said, according to officials present at the meeting.

The ambassador assured the organizers of concrete steps to advance Suriname’s participation. She committed to forwarding the request to relevant authorities in Paramaribo while engaging private-sector leaders back home to encourage their involvement. She also pledged that her office would help connect the summit’s organizers with key business stakeholders in Suriname.

Ambassador Graand-Galon further expressed optimism about ensuring strong representation, affirming that she “will do her best to have Surinamese business people attend the Regal Influence Summit,” a development organizers see as a positive stride toward enhanced bilateral cooperation.

On his part, Rev. Okosun said Suriname’s involvement would significantly boost the summit’s international presence. He added that Surinamese entrepreneurs would bring fresh perspectives to discussions on trade, innovation, and cross-border investment.

The Regal Influence Summit, now preparing for its 2026 edition, positions itself as a global platform for strategic dialogue involving leaders in governance, business, and civil society. Organizers say the 2026 summit will focus on leadership development, economic empowerment, and building new commercial alliances across Africa and the Caribbean.

Both parties described the meeting as productive and expressed confidence that further engagements would follow as preparations for the summit intensify.
