The Keta Lagoon Complex is a thriving ecosystem providing food, income, and employment for residents in communities such as Keta, Anloga, and Abutiakope. Salt mining also thrives in the area, supported by favorable natural evaporation conditions that make sustainable salt production possible. Together, these activities form the backbone of the region’s informal economy and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s food supply and domestic trade.

Beyond its economic importance, the Keta Lagoon is a haven of biodiversity.
