Davido Expresses Strong Desire to Collaborate with Rihanna

Award-winning Nigerian Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has openly expressed his desire to collaborate with global music icon Rihanna, describing the potential partnership as one that could produce “dope music” and resonate across continents.

Davido made the revelation during a live-streamed conversation with popular Nigerian content creator, singer, and streamer Carter Efe on the Twitch platform. The engaging livestream, which lasted for over three hours on Wednesday evening, attracted thousands of viewers from across the world and offered fans an intimate look into the personal and professional thoughts of the Afrobeats hitmaker.

During the session, Carter Efe asked Davido a direct and much-anticipated question: which artistes he would most like to collaborate with in the future. Without hesitation, Davido mentioned Rihanna as his top choice, alongside American R&B singer Kehlani and a number of leading African female artistes.

“I would definitely love to do a song with Rihanna, Kehlani as well. I think me and Rihanna would make some dope music,” Davido said. “And also my colleagues, Tems, Ayra Starr, and Morravey as well.”

Davido’s comments have since generated widespread excitement among music fans, particularly within the Afrobeats community, where collaborations with global superstars are seen as both a validation of the genre’s influence and an opportunity to push African music further onto the world stage.

The Nigerian singer, who is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of Afrobeats’ global expansion, has a long history of successful international collaborations. Over the years, Davido has worked with the likes of Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Lil Baby, Nas, Young Thug, Summer Walker, and many others. These collaborations have helped solidify his status as a global music force and one of Africa’s most recognisable cultural exports.

Rihanna, on the other hand, remains one of the most influential artists in modern music. The Barbadian singer has achieved massive success across pop, R&B, reggae, and dancehall, while also building a powerful global brand through her Fenty empire. Although she has been largely absent from releasing new music in recent years, Rihanna continues to dominate conversations whenever the possibility of a musical comeback arises.

Interestingly, Davido’s comments come just days after an AI-generated song allegedly featuring both Davido and Rihanna began circulating online and quickly went viral. The track, created using artificial intelligence technology, sparked debate across social media, with many fans praising how well the two voices blended and calling for a real-life collaboration.

While the AI-generated song was not officially released by either artiste, its viral success appears to have reignited discussions around what a genuine Davido-Rihanna collaboration could sound like. Many fans believe such a partnership would seamlessly blend Afrobeats, pop, and Caribbean influences, creating a global hit capable of dominating charts worldwide.

Davido’s mention of fellow Nigerian stars Tems, Ayra Starr, and Morravey also highlights his continued support for female artistes within the African music space. Tems, in particular, has enjoyed immense international success, collaborating with global heavyweights such as Drake, Beyoncé, and Future. Ayra Starr has equally emerged as one of Africa’s most promising young voices, while Morravey continues to gain recognition for her unique sound and artistry.

The Afrobeats genre has experienced unprecedented global growth in recent years, with African artistes headlining international festivals, topping global charts, and earning prestigious award nominations. Davido remains at the forefront of this movement, consistently using his platform to promote African music and culture on a global scale.

Although there is currently no official confirmation of an upcoming collaboration between Davido and Rihanna, his public expression of interest has fueled optimism among fans and industry watchers alike. Given Davido’s influence, international connections, and track record, many believe such a collaboration is not entirely out of reach.

As conversations around Afrobeats’ global dominance continue, moments like these further demonstrate the genre’s growing appeal and the increasing desire for cross-cultural musical partnerships. For now, fans can only wait and hope that Davido’s dream collaboration with Rihanna eventually becomes a reality.
