believes his move to represents the perfect platform to elevate his career, after the Ghanaian international completed a long-term switch to the Etihad Stadium.

The 26-year-old forward has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at City until 2031, marking a major milestone in a career defined by steady progression, resilience and ambition. Semenyo arrives in Manchester on the back of several outstanding seasons in the Premier League, where he established himself as one of the division’s most explosive and feared attacking players.

Born in London to Ghanaian parents, Semenyo began his professional journey at Bristol City. His early years were shaped by valuable loan spells at Bath City, Newport County and Sunderland, experiences that helped refine his versatility, physicality and tactical awareness. It was during his time at Newport County in the 2018/19 season that his transformation into a dynamic wide attacker truly began, a move that unlocked a new dimension to his game.

After returning to Bristol City, Semenyo quickly became a key figure in the Championship side. The 2020/21 season proved to be a breakthrough campaign as he made 50 appearances in all competitions and was deservedly named the club’s Young Player of the Year. His performances continued to improve, contributing goals and assists consistently and attracting growing interest from top-flight clubs.

That interest materialised in January 2023 when secured his signature midway through the 2022/23 season. Semenyo adapted swiftly to the demands of Premier League football, showcasing pace, power and an eye for goal. Under the guidance of manager Andoni Iraola, his game reached new heights, particularly when deployed on the left side of an attacking midfield trio.

Across three productive seasons at Bournemouth, Semenyo made 110 appearances, scoring crucial goals and delivering match-winning performances. His 2023/24 campaign yielded eight league goals and three assists, while the following season saw him raise his output further with 11 Premier League goals and 13 in all competitions. By the time the 2025/26 season reached its midpoint, he had already netted 10 league goals, including a brace at Anfield against Liverpool and a dramatic last-minute winner against Tottenham Hotspur on his birthday in what proved to be his farewell appearance for the Cherries.

Now at City, Semenyo is relishing the opportunity to work under , whom he describes as one of the greatest managers in football history.

“I am so proud to have joined Manchester City,” Semenyo said after completing the move. “I have watched City over the last decade under Pep Guardiola and they have been the dominant team in the Premier League while also achieving incredible success in the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup.

“This club sets the highest standards. Everything here is world-class, from the players to the facilities and the manager. I feel I still have so much room for improvement, and coming here at this stage of my career feels perfect. It is a real privilege to be part of this team.”

Semenyo will be available for immediate selection and is eligible to feature in City’s upcoming domestic cup fixtures, adding further depth and attacking threat to a squad competing on multiple fronts this season.

City’s Director of Football, Hugo Viana, was equally enthusiastic about the acquisition, highlighting both Semenyo’s current quality and his long-term potential. He described the forward as humble, hard-working and fully committed to developing into an even better player.

“Antoine is an exciting signing for us,” Viana said. “He made it clear from the beginning that Manchester City was the club he wanted to join. He has pace, power, two strong feet and a real ability to influence matches. Importantly, he also has significant room to grow, and we are excited to see how he develops here in the coming years.”

Beyond club football, Semenyo has also become a key figure for the . He has earned over 30 international caps and represented the Black Stars at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, underlining his pedigree on the global stage. His blend of physical strength, direct running and finishing ability has made him one of Ghana’s most reliable attacking options.

For Semenyo, the move to the Etihad Stadium signals the beginning of a new chapter as he enters what are widely regarded as the prime years of a footballer’s career. He is confident that Manchester City’s attacking philosophy and winning mentality align perfectly with his own ambitions.

“My best football is still ahead of me,” he added. “City are competing in several competitions and I believe I can contribute to a strong second half of the season. The Etihad is my new home now, and I cannot wait to play in front of the fans and show them what I can do.”

As Manchester City continue their pursuit of domestic and European honours, Semenyo’s arrival adds another layer of speed, creativity and goal threat to Guardiola’s already formidable squad. For the Ghanaian forward, the message is clear: the sky is the limit.
