Eastern Vultures Urge Due Process in Detention of Kofi Ofosu Nkansah

The Eastern Vultures, a pro-New Patriotic Party pressure group based in Koforidua, has called for transparency and strict adherence to the rule of law following the arrest and detention of former National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme Chief Executive Officer, Kofi Ofosu Nkansah.

In a press statement dated February 11, 2026, and signed by its Convener and Chairman, David Prah, the group expressed concern over the reported involvement of the National Intelligence Bureau in the matter. The group described the development as troubling and urged authorities to handle the situation in a manner that upholds democratic standards.

Mr. Ofosu Nkansah previously served as CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme, a state initiative established to support entrepreneurship and innovation among Ghanaian youth. His arrest has generated reactions within political circles, particularly in the Eastern Region.

According to the Eastern Vultures, state security institutions must operate independently and within the bounds of the law, without actions that may create perceptions of political bias.

“We call on the appropriate authorities to ensure full transparency in this matter and to either formally charge Mr. Ofosu Nkansah in accordance with the law or release him if there are no lawful grounds for his continued detention,” the statement read.

The group further emphasized that Ghana’s democratic credentials depend on fairness, accountability, and respect for due process. It cautioned against any development that could heighten political tensions or undermine public confidence in state institutions.

As of the time of filing this report, the National Intelligence Bureau has not publicly detailed the grounds for the detention.
