Davido Announces First UK Festival in London

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has announced his first-ever music festival in the United Kingdom, marking a major milestone in his international career and reinforcing his growing global influence.

The award-winning artist made the announcement via social media, confirming that the event, titled “Davido and Friends,” will take place on August 14 at the Crystal Palace Bowl in London. The show is expected to attract fans from across the UK and beyond, further highlighting the global appeal of Afrobeats.

According to details shared by the singer, pre-sale tickets will be available from March 26 at 10am GMT, while general ticket sales will begin on March 27 at the same time. The announcement has already generated significant excitement among fans, with many anticipating a large-scale and memorable outdoor experience.

Davido described the upcoming event as a unique opportunity for fans, noting that it will be his only outdoor performance in London this summer. He encouraged supporters to attend and be part of what he has positioned as a special and historic show.

“For the first time ever, I present to you ‘Davido and Friends’. This will be my only outdoor show I am performing in London this summer. We will be taking over the Crystal Palace Bowl on the 14th of August. Make sure you get your friends down,” he said.

The choice of venue reflects the ambition behind the event. Crystal Palace Bowl is known for hosting major outdoor concerts, making it a fitting location for a festival expected to deliver high-energy performances and a vibrant atmosphere.

Davido’s rise to prominence began in 2012 with the release of “Dami Duro,” a breakout single from his debut album “Omo Baba Olowo.” The song quickly established him as a leading voice in Nigerian music and set the stage for a career that has continued to expand internationally.

Over the years, he has grown into one of Africa’s biggest music exports and is widely recognised as part of Afrobeats’ globally acknowledged “Big Three.” His influence has played a key role in pushing the genre onto the world stage, with his music reaching audiences across multiple continents.

His catalogue includes several successful projects such as “A Good Time” released in 2019, “A Better Time” in 2020, “Timeless” in 2023 and “5ive” in 2025. These releases have not only achieved commercial success but have also reinforced his reputation as one of the most consistent artists in the industry.

Beyond his music, Davido has contributed to the development of talent within the Nigerian entertainment space. He is the founder of DMW, a record label established in April 2016, which has supported and promoted a number of emerging artists.

The announcement of “Davido and Friends” comes at a time when Afrobeats continues to gain global momentum. Artists from the continent are increasingly headlining international events, collaborating with global acts and expanding their reach into new markets.

Hosting a personal festival represents a strategic move for Davido, allowing him to curate a unique experience that reflects his brand and artistic vision. It also provides an opportunity to showcase other talents and celebrate African music on an international platform.

London remains one of the key hubs for Afrobeats, with a strong African diaspora and a diverse music culture that embraces global sounds. The city has consistently supported African artists, making it an ideal location for an event of this scale.

Industry observers believe that the success of this festival could open the door for similar initiatives in other countries, further strengthening the global presence of African music.

As anticipation builds, fans are expected to look forward to additional announcements, including potential guest appearances and performance line-ups. The event is likely to deliver a mix of music, culture and entertainment, creating a memorable experience for attendees.

With “Davido and Friends,” the artist is not only hosting a concert but also creating a platform that celebrates the growth of Afrobeats and its influence worldwide. The festival is set to reinforce his position as a leading figure in the genre while connecting with fans in one of the world’s most dynamic music markets.
