The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asunafo North, Hon. Joseph Akparibo, has dismissed claims that he described the creation of the Ahafo Region as useless.
Hon. Akparibo said the allegation, attributed to the Ahafo Regional NPP Communications, is false and does not reflect anything he has said about the creation of the region.
“I have never said that the creation of Ahafo Region is useless,” Hon. Akparibo stated emphatically.
He said he was surprised by the allegation and stressed that his comments should not be misrepresented or taken out of context.
According to him, the claim is not only inaccurate but also has the potential to create unnecessary misunderstanding among residents and stakeholders in the Ahafo Region.
The MCE maintained that he has never made any statement intended to denigrate the creation of the Ahafo Region or undermine the significance of the region.
He therefore urged the public to disregard the allegation and treat it with the highest contempt it deserves.
“I want to state clearly that I have never made such a statement. The claims are false and should be treated with the contempt they deserve,” he said.
His response follows an accusation by the Ahafo Regional NPP Communications, which alleged that the MCE had made comments denigrating the creation of the Ahafo Region.
Hon. Akparibo, however, rejected the accusation and called on those making the claim to provide evidence to substantiate it.
He also appealed to political actors and the public to exercise restraint when making or circulating statements attributed to public officials, particularly on issues that could create tension or division within the region.
The Asunafo North MCE reiterated that he stands by his actual comments and urged the public to rely on verified statements rather than what he described as unfounded allegations.
He further stressed the need for political discussions in the region to be based on facts, responsible communication and mutual respect, rather than claims that could unnecessarily inflame public sentiment.
