Parliament to invite GFA and Sports Minister over Black Stars

The Chairman of Parliament’s Select Committee on Sports, Ernest Henry Norgbey, says the committee will invite the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Minister for Sports to explain the Black Stars’ recent performances.

Norgbey said the committee is yet to conduct an investigation into the team’s struggles in the ongoing 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

“We as a committee are yet to investigate the performance of the Black Stars in recent times. We plan to invite the GFA, the Minister, purposely and specifically to interrogate what actually is happening to Ghana football, especially when it comes to the Black Stars,” he told Akoma 87.9 FM.

The Black Stars have lost their opening two Group C matches, suffering a 2-0 defeat to Côte d’Ivoire before a 4-2 loss to The Gambia in Accra.

Norgbey said the committee wants to understand the factors behind the team’s recent struggles before determining what measures may be necessary.

The planned engagement is expected to give Parliament an opportunity to hear from the GFA and the Sports Ministry as Ghana seeks to improve its performance and strengthen its chances of qualifying for the 2027 AFCON.
