Standard Chartered delivers strong returns and sustainable shareholder value sets out sustainable growth plan at its Facts behind the Figures Session

Accra, October 13, 2026 – Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC has reported a 10 per cent increase in profit after tax to GH¢320 million for the first half of 2026, as the bank reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable growth and long-term shareholder value.

The bank disclosed this during its 2026 Facts Behind the Figures stakeholder engagement session at the Ghana Stock Exchange, which brought together investors, brokers, fund managers, regulators and media representatives.

The engagement provided an overview of the bank’s business and financial performance for the full year 2025 and the first half of 2026, highlighting its financial resilience, strategic priorities and contribution to Ghana’s socio-economic development.

In 2025, the bank achieved a return on equity of 28 per cent, while earnings per share rose to GH¢5.97 from GH¢5.31 in 2024. In recognition of its performance, a total dividend payout of GH¢673.48 million was declared at the 2025 Annual General Meeting.

The bank’s balance sheet also expanded by 15 per cent in 2025, while meeting all regulatory and capital requirements. In the first half of 2026, it recorded total revenue of GH¢798 million and increased profit after tax by 10 per cent to GH¢320 million.

Standard Chartered Ghana attributed its performance partly to its international banking framework, which is underpinned by a robust regulatory environment and global standards. The framework guides its approach to risk management and capital allocation, contributing to a measured approach to business in recent years.

Speaking at the engagement, Xorse Godzi, Chief Executive of Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC, said the bank remained focused on its next phase of growth and delivering sustainable value for shareholders.

“We will continue to maximise our strongest competitive advantages while harnessing market opportunities to accelerate growth. As a super-connector bank, we will leverage our international network and cross-border capabilities to connect corporates, financial institutions and individuals to some of the world’s most dynamic and rapidly growing markets,” he said.

Albert Larweh Asante, Chief Financial Officer of Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC, said the bank’s performance reflected the strength of its balance sheet and its disciplined approach to risk management and capital allocation.

“Our resilient performance reflects the strength of our balance sheet and our disciplined approach to risk management and capital allocation. We remain focused on driving sustainable income growth, maintaining operational efficiency and delivering long-term value for our shareholders,” he said.

The bank also outlined its strategy of combining differentiated cross-border capabilities with wealth management expertise to connect clients to global growth opportunities.

Beyond its financial performance, Standard Chartered highlighted progress in its sustainability and social impact initiatives. In 2025, it invested GH¢4.6 million in youth empowerment through the Standard Chartered Foundation, supporting disadvantaged young people, particularly young women and persons with disabilities, through employability and entrepreneurship programmes.

The bank also mobilised $30.5 million in climate finance for Ghana through a $200 million World Bank Clean Cooking Outcome Bond. The initiative benefited 1.3 million people and contributed to reducing emissions by more than 1.8 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent, demonstrating the potential of carbon finance to deliver impact at scale.

The engagement comes as Standard Chartered marks 130 years of uninterrupted operations in Ghana, having established its presence in the country in 1896.

The bank reaffirmed its commitment to Ghana’s socio-economic development through support for various sectors, facilitating capital for infrastructure development and helping businesses and individuals pursue their trade and investment ambitions.

Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC has been listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange since 1991, while its parent company, Standard Chartered PLC, is listed on the London and Hong Kong stock exchanges.
