Ga North MCE Named in Fise Land Dispute

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga North, Hon. Akwetey Agbo, has been named in a land dispute at Fise involving a proposed Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound on property claimed by a private individual.

The landowner is calling on the Minister for Local Government and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to intervene, alleging that concerns over ownership of the land and the continuation of construction work remain unresolved.

According to documents and information provided to Africa Live News, the landowner claims to hold title documents for the property and says the Ga North Municipal Assembly issued a building permit after the required fees were paid.

However, construction of a CHPS compound allegedly commenced on the same land shortly after the permit was issued, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding the project and the status of the disputed property.

The landowner says several letters were sent to the MCE seeking clarification and intervention, but the matter remained unresolved.

The dispute was subsequently reported to the police, who reportedly advised the parties to seek redress through the courts. Court processes were later served on the relevant division to notify the authorities that the matter was before the court. Nevertheless, construction work allegedly continued.

The landowner has also accused the Amasaman Divisional Police Commander, Mr Peter Adjei, of threatening to make an arrest over alleged trespassing. Africa Live News has not independently verified this claim or established the circumstances surrounding the alleged exchange.

Questions have also been raised about the possible involvement of Nathaniel Noi Addy, identified in the information provided as a National Security officer operating in the Ga North Municipality. His role, if any, in the dispute has not been independently established.

The landowner has further referred to an earlier publication concerning a separate land dispute in which the MCE’s name was reportedly mentioned. The MCE was said to have denied involvement in that matter. Africa Live News has not independently verified those earlier allegations or established a connection with the current case.

The latest dispute has prompted calls for the relevant authorities to examine the land documents, the building permit, the circumstances surrounding the CHPS project and the actions taken after the matter was reported.

Information provided to Africa Live News indicates that a petition to the IGP is being prepared. The landowner also reports that a writ was served on the MCE on October 15, 2026. The nature and current status of the court proceedings have not been independently confirmed.

The landowner is urging the Ministry of Local Government and the police hierarchy to intervene and ensure that the matter is handled in accordance with the law.

Efforts to obtain a response from Hon. Akwetey Agbo were unsuccessful as of press time. Africa Live News has also not independently obtained responses from Mr Adjei or Mr Addy. The individuals named should be given an opportunity to respond to the allegations.

The claims remain unverified. The existence of a building permit or a claim of ownership does not, by itself, determine legal title to disputed land. The relevant documents, court records and responses from the parties involved will be important in establishing the facts.

Africa Live News will update this report if further verified information or official responses become available.
