FIFA Approves Normalisation Committee to Oversee NFF Elections

The Bureau of the FIFA Council has approved the appointment of a Normalisation Committee to oversee the affairs of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) ahead of fresh elections into its Executive Committee.

In a letter signed by FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström and addressed to Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme MON, FIFA confirmed that the committee would be appointed jointly with the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The committee will manage the federation’s affairs during the transition and oversee the process leading to fresh elections.

Its mandate will end once its assigned responsibilities are completed, but no later than May 31, 2027. Members of the committee will not be eligible to contest any position in the forthcoming NFF elections.

Meanwhile, the NFF Secretariat will continue handling the federation’s day-to-day administration and football activities until the committee is formally appointed.

The next step is for FIFA and CAF to appoint the committee members, with further details on the transition and election process expected in due course.
