Adom TV presenter Alex Kobina Stonne, known in the media as Kobby Stonne, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of External Affairs Commissioner of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) at the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC).
The media personality, who has worked across Adom TV, Adom FM and Asempa 94.7 FM, said his decision to contest is driven by a commitment to strengthening student representation and expanding opportunities beyond campus.
“The External Affairs portfolio is about visibility, partnerships and results. I believe students deserve leadership that can open doors and deliver practical benefits,” Stonne said.
Drawing on his background in broadcast journalism and communication, he noted that his experience positions him well to engage institutions, corporate bodies and other stakeholders on behalf of UniMAC students.
“As a media practitioner, I understand how to communicate, negotiate and represent interests effectively. These are key strengths needed for this office,” he added.
As part of his campaign, Stonne has outlined several policy initiatives aimed at improving student welfare.
One of them is a Student Transport Support Initiative, which seeks to secure a dedicated SRC-managed bus to support academic field trips, official engagements and student programmes.
“Transportation is a major challenge for students. With the right partnerships and transparency, this is something we can solve,” he stated.
He is also proposing a UniMAC Student SIM and Data Support Project aimed at providing affordable data and call bundles for students through partnerships with telecommunications companies.
“Access to data is no longer a luxury for media students; it is a necessity. My goal is to make connectivity affordable for every student,” Stonne explained.
In addition, the Adom TV presenter plans to revive sports and wellness activities on campus, focusing on inter-departmental competitions, fitness sessions and talent development.
Campaigning under the slogan “Beyond Campus Mandate,” Alex Kobina Stonne said his leadership would focus on accountability, visibility and tangible impact.
“This campaign is about action, not promises. I want students to feel the impact of the SRC in their daily lives,” he said.
SRC elections at UniMAC are expected to take place in the coming weeks.
