The President and Founder of Africkicks, a Los Angeles–based non-profit charity organization, Oumarou Idrissa, has congratulated Senegal following their historic victory in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.

Senegal secured the continental title after defeating host nation Morocco 1–0 in a dramatic final played on Sunday night in Rabat, a match that captivated football fans across Africa and beyond.

Oumarou Idrissa, who is currently in Morocco, was among the dignitaries present at the stadium to witness Senegal’s memorable triumph. He joined thousands of supporters as the West African nation lifted the prestigious AFCON trophy after an intense and emotionally charged final.

Beyond attending the tournament, Idrissa’s visit to Morocco formed part of Africkicks’ ongoing mission to empower young people through football development, education and community support across Africa.

During his stay, Africkicks made a significant donation to Gfiems Académie, a youth football academy based in Morocco that focuses on nurturing young talents and providing opportunities for underprivileged children to pursue professional football careers.

The donation exercise was carried out together with D’Zhane Parker, an executive member of the Black Lives Matter movement, who partnered Africkicks in supporting grassroots football development. The initiative aimed at improving training conditions, equipment availability and player welfare at the academy.

Speaking after the donation, Oumarou Idrissa reaffirmed Africkicks’ commitment to youth empowerment through sports, stressing that football remains a powerful tool for social change, unity and opportunity across communities.

“Our focus has always been on giving young talents the platform and support they need to succeed, both on and off the pitch. Africa has immense potential, and through partnerships like this, we can help unlock that future,” he said.

As part of his engagements in Morocco, Idrissa, together with D’Zhane Parker and former NBA star Serge Ibaka, also held high-level interactions with the leadership of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The delegation met with the CAF President and key executives, discussing the future of African football development, youth investment and international collaboration.

The meeting highlighted the growing role of private organizations, global advocates and former professional athletes in supporting CAF’s long-term vision of strengthening football structures across the continent.

Serge Ibaka, known for his African roots and strong advocacy for youth development, commended initiatives that bridge sports and community growth, emphasizing the importance of sustained investment at the grassroots level.

During the AFCON 2025 tournament in Morocco, Oumarou Idrissa also met several globally recognized personalities who were present for the championship. Among them were Senegalese-American music icon and philanthropist Akon (Aliaune Damala Bouga Time Puru Nacka Lu Lu Lu Badara Akon Thiam), American YouTuber and online streamer Darren Jason Watkins Jr., popularly known as IShowSpeed, and Nigerian football legend Nwankwo Kanu, a former professional footballer and African football ambassador.
