Afrikicks, in partnership with Black Lives Matter, has carried out a humanitarian donation exercise in Morocco, extending support to young footballers and vulnerable communities through Gfiems Académie.
The initiative was led by Oumarou Idrissa, President and Founder of Afrikicks, alongside D’Zhane Parker, representing Black Lives Matter. The donation included football equipment, training materials, and groceries aimed at supporting young players and easing the burden on families connected to the academy.
Speaking on the outreach, Oumarou Idrissa said the initiative reflects Afrikicks’ mission to use sport as a pathway to opportunity and positive social change. “Football is more than a game; it is a tool for hope, discipline, and opportunity. Our goal is to ensure that children in underserved communities have access to basic resources that allow them to dream and work toward a better future,” he said.
Idrissa further noted that Afrikicks has, over the years, donated football boots to children in deprived communities across Ghana, Niger, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Togo, Benin, and other African countries as part of its broader grassroots development agenda.
Beyond sports development, Afrikicks and Black Lives Matter have also collaborated on critical community support projects across the continent. According to Idrissa, the organizations have provided boreholes for communities in Ghana, Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso, improving access to clean and safe drinking water. In addition, groceries and food items have been distributed to vulnerable households to address immediate needs and improve living conditions.
D’Zhane Parker described the collaboration as a demonstration of global solidarity and shared responsibility. “This partnership is about dignity, access, and standing with communities. Whether it is clean water, food support, or opportunities for young people through sport, our focus is on creating lasting impact where it is needed most,” Parker said.
Also commenting on the initiative, Yolonda Ezell of Afrikicks highlighted the importance of working directly with grassroots institutions, noting that partnerships with academies such as Gfiems Académie help translate goodwill into measurable community impact.
Officials of Gfiems Académie expressed appreciation for the support, describing it as timely and encouraging for the young players. They said the donation would help improve training conditions, boost morale, and inspire the students to remain committed to both education and football development.
The Morocco initiative forms part of Afrikicks’ wider Africa-focused humanitarian efforts, carried out in collaboration with Black Lives Matter, underscoring how sport, social advocacy, and community development can come together to positively transform lives across the continent.
