Antoine Semenyo Wins Premier League Player of the Month After Strong Start at Manchester City

Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has credited his recent improvement in performance to his move to Manchester City, following an impressive start to life at the English champions after joining during the winter transfer window.

The 26-year-old forward has quickly become one of the standout performers at the Etihad Stadium and his outstanding displays have now been recognised with the English Premier League Player of the Month award for February.

Semenyo enjoyed an exceptional month in which he scored three goals and provided one assist in five Premier League appearances for Manchester City. His impact on the pitch helped him beat strong competition from several top players across the league to secure the individual honour.

Among the players he edged out for the award were Manchester United forward Benjamin Sesko, Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres, Bournemouth winger Dango Ouattara, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk and his Manchester City teammate Nico O’Reilly.

The recognition marks an important milestone in Semenyo’s career. Although he had previously received several nominations for the award during his time at AFC Bournemouth, he had never won it until now.

Speaking after receiving the honour, Semenyo described the moment as special and one he will always remember, particularly because it came so soon after his arrival at Manchester City.

“This is a brilliant moment for me. To win the Premier League Player of the Month award so soon after joining City is something I will never forget,” Semenyo said.

“It has been such an amazing start to life at this club. I am learning so much every day and I honestly feel I am already a better player.”

The Ghana forward also praised the environment at Manchester City, saying the support he has received from the club since his arrival has helped him settle quickly and focus on delivering strong performances.

“I have been made to feel welcome from day one, which means I have been able to stay focused on the pitch and do my best,” he added.

Semenyo’s arrival at Manchester City during the January transfer window generated excitement among both supporters and football analysts, with many curious to see how the Ghanaian attacker would adapt to the demands of playing for one of Europe’s top clubs.

Just weeks into his stay at the club, he has already demonstrated his ability to perform at the highest level. His pace, physical strength and attacking instincts have made him a valuable addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad as the team continues to compete for major honours this season.

Despite his personal success and growing reputation in the league, Semenyo has maintained that his main focus remains on helping the team achieve its objectives before the end of the campaign.

“My focus now is on continuing to improve and helping City to achieve the best possible results. We have so much to play for and I am really excited about this final period of the season,” the striker stated.

Semenyo’s performances have not only strengthened Manchester City’s attacking options but have also placed him among the most productive forwards in the English Premier League this season.

The Ghanaian international is currently enjoying the best campaign of his career in England’s top flight. So far this season, he has scored 15 Premier League goals, a remarkable achievement that reflects his consistency and attacking efficiency.

In the race for the Premier League Golden Boot, Semenyo currently sits among the top contenders. He trails only Brentford striker Igor Thiago, who has scored 18 goals, and Manchester City’s prolific Norwegian forward Erling Haaland, who leads the chart with 22 goals.

His rise in the scoring rankings has been widely praised by football fans in Ghana and across the African continent, where Semenyo continues to represent the growing influence of African players in Europe’s top leagues.

For Ghanaian supporters, Semenyo’s success is another proud moment, as the Black Stars forward continues to make a significant impact at one of the biggest clubs in world football.

His development over the past few seasons has been notable. After building his reputation at Bristol City, Semenyo moved to AFC Bournemouth where he established himself as a dangerous attacking player in the Premier League. His performances at Bournemouth caught the attention of several top clubs before Manchester City eventually secured his signature in the winter transfer window.

Since joining the reigning Premier League champions, Semenyo has taken another step forward in his career, benefiting from the high level of competition, elite coaching and tactical structure at the club.

Football analysts believe that if he continues on his current trajectory, Semenyo could become one of the most influential African forwards in the Premier League in the coming seasons.

With Manchester City still competing on multiple fronts and the Premier League season entering its decisive stage, Semenyo will be hoping to maintain his strong form and contribute further goals and assists for his team.

His early success at the Etihad Stadium has already shown that he is capable of thriving at the highest level, and the Player of the Month award is a clear reflection of the impact he has made since his arrival.

As the season progresses, both Manchester City supporters and Ghanaian fans will be watching closely to see how far Semenyo can push his performances and whether he can continue challenging for the league’s top scoring honours.

For now, the February Player of the Month award stands as a significant achievement in his career and a reminder of the impressive start he has made in Manchester City colours.
