Ghanaian football giants Asante Kotoko are gearing up to enhance their attacking options by signing Isaac Mintah and Kwame Poku during the upcoming transfer window. This boost to the Porcupine Warriors’ lineup comes as head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum seeks to bolster the squad’s offensive strength for the second half of the season.
Isaac Mintah, a former Aduana Stars forward, and Kwame Poku, who previously played for Kotoko, are both set to undergo trials with the team, hoping to impress and earn their places on the roster. Mintah has already commenced training with Kotoko, joining the squad on Tuesday, while Poku is expected to start his sessions in the coming days. The decision to sign them will depend on their performance in training, as confirmed by Kumasi-based Kessben FM.
Mintah, aged 25, recently returned to Ghana following his stint with Libyan side Al-Ahli. He joined Al-Ahli in February 2024 after a standout season with Aduana Stars, where he made a name for himself in the Ghana Premier League. With a record of 17 goals and 4 assists in 40 appearances, he was one of the top performers before his move abroad. However, after his short spell in Libya, Mintah is now unattached and aims to secure a place with Kotoko as he continues his professional journey.
Similarly, Kwame Poku, aged 23, is looking forward to reuniting with Kotoko after his journey across the African continent. He left the club in 2021 to join Algerian side USM Algers, after which he went on to play for multiple clubs, including Morocco’s Olympique Khouribga. Currently a free agent, Poku sees this as an opportunity to return to Kotoko and revive his career, bringing experience and familiarity with the club to the table.
