Cynthia Morgan Reacts to Peter Okoye’s Accusations Against Brothers: “Don’t Include Me in Your Drama”

By Africa Live News

Nigerian dancehall artist Cynthia Morgan, now known as Madrina, has responded to comments made by Peter Okoye of the defunct P-Square music group, after he referenced her name in a heated Instagram post accusing his twin brother Paul Okoye and their elder brother Jude Okoye of betrayal and theft.

The drama, which unfolded midweek, has once again brought the spotlight back to the long-standing family feud within the Okoye household — and the unresolved controversies involving former Northside Entertainment signees, including Cynthia Morgan.

Peter Okoye Alleges Betrayal, Mentions Cynthia Morgan

In a bold and emotional Instagram post shared on Wednesday, Peter Okoye, also known as Mr P, alleged that he had been wronged by his twin brother Paul and their elder brother Jude, who previously managed the P-Square group and ran their now-defunct record label Northside Entertainment.

Expressing frustration over what he described as years of deceit and internal betrayal, Peter referenced other artists who had previously clashed with the Okoye brothers, including May D and Cynthia Morgan, whose careers were both marked by controversies with the label.

“Exactly what I was talking about: their publicist doing everything to make me look like a liar. I’m not MayD or Cynthia Morgan. I’m PETER OKOYE, the one and only ROCK/OKWUTE of the Okoyes. The truth shall prevail,” he wrote in part.
He ended the post with hashtags such as #UnaThiefAbiUnaNoThief and #FamilyDoesNotStealFromFamily.

Peter’s outburst appeared to reference an ongoing legal or business disagreement within the family, and he used past disputes with former artists as parallels to his current struggles.

Cynthia Morgan Responds: “Don’t Drag Me Into This”

Following the viral post, Cynthia Morgan took to her Instagram Stories on Thursday to distance herself from the ongoing family feud, expressing displeasure over her name being dragged into Peter’s conflict.

“I have mixed feelings about my name popping up like this. I’m not a weak person. Certain family members made it look so. @peterpsquare included,” she wrote.
“Until you found out what they were doing to you too. Na me listen to una sha.”

Madrina’s comment hinted at past manipulation she believes she suffered while signed under Northside Entertainment, as well as her disillusionment with both Peter and the Okoye family as a whole.

Her remarks suggest that she once sided with Peter during his earlier fallout with Paul and Jude, but now feels her name is being used in a way that does not accurately reflect her experiences or current stance.

A Bitter Past: Cynthia Morgan vs. Northside Entertainment

Cynthia Morgan’s relationship with the Okoye brothers—particularly Jude Okoye, who managed her under Northside Entertainment—has long been a topic of public interest and controversy.

In 2020, the singer shocked fans when she revealed in an Instagram Live session that she lost her stage name, royalties, Instagram account, and VEVO channel after parting ways with the label. She accused Jude Okoye of signing a contract that gave her no long-term rights to her brand or earnings.

“After I left, I had no access to my stage name or any of my content. It was like being erased,” she said at the time.

Jude Okoye denied the allegations, insisting that Cynthia left the label of her own free will and that she had access to her name and social media accounts, but chose not to use them.

Despite public sympathy and a brief viral resurgence of her career, Cynthia Morgan later admitted she declined help offered by the public and entertainers like Davido, choosing instead to rebrand as Madrina and take control of her career independently.

Fans React to Renewed Drama

Social media has since erupted with mixed reactions to the unfolding dispute between Peter Okoye and his brothers, as well as Cynthia Morgan’s response. Many users praised the singer for standing her ground and refusing to be drawn into old wounds, while others questioned why Peter would invoke her name in a family feud.

“Cynthia Morgan is right to feel some type of way. If Peter didn’t stand with her then, he shouldn’t reference her now,” one Twitter user commented.
Another wrote, “P-Square family drama is turning into Nollywood. Let sleeping dogs lie.”

The controversy also rekindled interest in how record labels in Nigeria handle artist contracts, with fans drawing parallels between Cynthia Morgan’s case and those of other artists like Kizz Daniel, Runtown, and Brymo, who have all had tumultuous label experiences.

Peter Okoye’s Position: Frustration or Strategy?

Peter Okoye has, in recent years, portrayed himself as the more vocal and transparent half of the P-Square duo. Since the group’s split in 2017 and eventual reunion in 2021, tensions have occasionally flared, but rarely with the level of personal intensity shown in his latest posts.

His reference to former label artists like Cynthia Morgan and May D may have been intended to highlight a pattern of behavior within the Okoye family business, but it has also reignited criticism over how the group handled past professional relationships.

So far, neither Paul Okoye (also known as Rudeboy) nor Jude Okoye has responded publicly to Peter’s latest accusations or to Cynthia Morgan’s comments.

Looking Ahead: Will This Lead to Resolution?

The renewed spotlight on P-Square’s family issues and Cynthia Morgan’s past challenges serves as a reminder of the fragility of artist-label relationships in Nigeria’s entertainment scene. It also raises important questions about accountability, transparency, and the long-term wellbeing of artists.

While Peter Okoye appears set on publicly airing his grievances, industry observers hope the feud doesn’t distract from the music or escalate into something more damaging.

As for Cynthia Morgan, her message is clear: she’s moved on, and wants her name kept out of the Okoye family’s drama.
