FDA Launches Online Portal to Streamline Advertisement Approvals

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has launched a new Online Advertisement Application Portal, marking a major milestone in the organization’s digital transformation efforts. The launch event, held at the T.C. Corquaye Conference Room at the FDA headquarters, brought together the FDA’s Executive Committee, management, directors, partners, and key stakeholders to celebrate this advancement in service delivery.

The newly launched portal aims to simplify and streamline the process of submitting, reviewing, and approving advertisements for FDA-regulated products. By allowing customers to complete the entire application process online—from submission to payment and approval—the portal enhances convenience, transparency, and accessibility, reducing the need for physical visits to the FDA offices.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of the FDA, Dr. Delese Darko, underscored the importance of the new platform in advancing the organization’s commitment to efficiency and customer-centric services. “This is a momentous occasion for us,” she said. “The launch of this platform reflects our commitment to innovation, efficiency, and customer-centricity. It’s a leap forward in how we interact, engage, and serve our stakeholders.”

The FDA’s mandate under the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851), includes the regulation of product advertisements. The introduction of this portal is expected to significantly simplify and enhance this process by providing a clear and traceable record of all transactions and communications. This will ensure greater transparency and accountability in the advertising process, benefiting both the FDA and its stakeholders.

The development of the online platform was made possible through collaboration with Proper-Alliance, an affiliate of the AFCTA Network Hub, along with other key partners. The FDA extended its gratitude to all those involved in the project, recognizing their efforts in making this innovative tool a reality.

The launch of the Online Advertisement Application Portal is part of the FDA’s broader strategy to adapt to the evolving needs of the industry and to modernize its services. The organization reiterated its commitment to ongoing improvements that foster a safe, transparent, and efficient regulatory environment in Ghana.

The FDA also encouraged all stakeholders to utilize the new platform, viewing it as a collective effort to uphold the highest standards of product quality and safety across the country. As the FDA continues its journey towards a more digital and efficient regulatory framework, the new portal is expected to serve as a key instrument in promoting accountability, customer satisfaction, and effective regulation.

Looking forward, the FDA aims to build on this achievement by launching additional digital initiatives that will enhance its regulatory capabilities and service delivery. The organization remains committed to innovation and continuous improvement, ensuring that it meets the dynamic needs of the public health sector in Ghana.

By embracing this new portal, the FDA hopes to set a new standard for regulatory oversight in Ghana, reaffirming its dedication to protecting public health and promoting fair trade practices. Stakeholders are encouraged to explore the platform and take advantage of its user-friendly features to facilitate the smooth and efficient approval of product advertisements.

With this new step, the FDA moves closer to achieving its vision of becoming a leading regulatory authority, not just in Ghana, but across Africa, ensuring that all regulated products are of the highest standard and safe for public consumption.
