Fiifi Boafo Highlights Positive Perception of NPP’s Running Mate NAPO

Fiifi Boafo, the spokesperson for Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, has emphasized the positive public perception surrounding the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) running mate, describing him as a figure capable of delivering impressive results. Speaking in an interview on Eyewitness News with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Citi FM, Boafo highlighted NAPO’s reputation as a hardworking and result-oriented individual who resonates well with the public.

According to Boafo, Dr. Opoku Prempeh has earned a strong reputation among those he engages with, and the public consistently views him as someone who fulfills his promises. Boafo expressed confidence in the widely held belief that NAPO is not only liked by the people but is also known for producing tangible results.

“The feedback you get from the people is not what some people want us to believe because this is a man [NAPO] that the people perceive as someone who is very hardworking and will give you results when he is given the opportunity,” Boafo said. He further underscored that the perception surrounding NAPO during his engagements with the public is overwhelmingly positive, portraying him as someone who will undoubtedly deliver on his promises when given the opportunity to lead.

In addition to praising NAPO’s strong rapport with the public, Boafo compared Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s record as Education Minister to that of Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) running mate. Boafo suggested that NAPO’s accomplishments, particularly his leadership in the successful implementation of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, surpass those of his counterpart, Professor Opoku Agyemang, who previously served as Education Minister.

“I can ask you today what is the NAPO story as a Minister of Education, and I am sure that it won’t take you a microsecond to say that that is the guy who led the team to implement the Free SHS policy. And I am very sure if I should ask you about Professor Jane Opoku Agyemang as Education Minister, it will take you a while to put up something,” Boafo stated confidently.

He further argued that if the same question were posed to the public, the positive sentiments surrounding NAPO’s tenure as Minister of Education would be substantial, whereas the same could not be said for Professor Opoku Agyemang.

“Should the same question be posed to the public, the positives that will be said about NAPO will be enormous, and the same cannot be said about Jane,” Boafo remarked.

Boafo’s comments reflect the ongoing political discourse surrounding the NPP and NDC’s respective running mates, as both parties prepare for the upcoming elections. His remarks also highlight the importance of past performance records, particularly in the education sector, as a key point of comparison between the two candidates.

As the architect of the Free SHS policy, NAPO’s contributions to the educational landscape in Ghana have been widely recognized. The policy, which was introduced by the NPP government, has provided free secondary education to students across the country, benefiting thousands of Ghanaian families. This achievement is often highlighted as one of the NPP’s flagship programs and has become a central point in the party’s campaign.

In contrast, Boafo questioned the visibility and impact of Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang’s tenure as Education Minister during the NDC’s administration, implying that her legacy in the sector does not match that of NAPO. This comparison underscores the NPP’s strategy of using NAPO’s achievements in education as a key selling point in the election campaign.

Boafo’s defense of Dr. Opoku Prempeh comes amid heightened political activity as the NPP and NDC intensify their campaigns ahead of the elections. With education being a critical issue for many voters, particularly following the implementation of the Free SHS policy, NAPO’s role in shaping the educational system in Ghana remains a significant factor in the NPP’s appeal to the electorate.

In conclusion, Fiifi Boafo’s remarks highlight the widespread public support for NAPO and his reputation as a hardworking, results-driven leader. By comparing NAPO’s record as Minister of Education to that of Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, Boafo further strengthens the NPP’s narrative that their running mate is better positioned to deliver on key national policies. As the election approaches, the debate over the candidates’ track records, particularly in the education sector, will likely continue to play a pivotal role in shaping public opinion and voter preferences.
