Ghana to Host Mining & Minerals Convention 2025 to Reimagine Future of Gold Industry

Ghana’s thriving gold and minerals sector is set to take centre stage as the country prepares to host a landmark event that aims to reshape the future of its mining landscape. The Mining & Minerals Convention 2025, officially announced by event organisers Meetings.Co in collaboration with key national stakeholders, will take place from 26th to 27th August 2025 at the prestigious Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra.

Themed “Shaping the Future of Ghana’s Gold Industry,” the two-day convention will bring together high-level players across the mining value chain — including government leaders, regulators, mining companies, investors, refiners, sustainability experts, technologists, and policy influencers — to craft a bold vision for Ghana’s mining future.

This timely gathering comes at a pivotal moment for Ghana, Africa’s leading gold producer and a country seeking to leverage its mineral wealth to support sustainable economic development, green innovation, and global competitiveness. With increasing global demand for responsibly sourced gold and the growing need for mineral sector transparency, the convention is expected to spark transformative policy shifts and investment opportunities.

According to a statement from Meetings.Co, the organisers aim to create “a dynamic and insightful experience” for delegates and exhibitors alike. Key features of the event will include presidential and ministerial keynote addresses, technical paper presentations, policy dialogues, fireside chats, strategic exhibitions, and high-level networking sessions.

“We are curating a space where the public and private sectors can meet at the highest levels to deliberate on sustainability, economic value addition, ESG frameworks, and technology integration in mining,” the statement noted.

The event’s high-level participation will feature thought leadership from Ghana’s top policymakers, including officials from the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, the Minerals Commission, the Minerals Income and Investment Fund (MIIF), and the Ghana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (GHEITI), who have all pledged their support for the initiative.

Convention delegates can expect key sessions that explore:

  • Strategies for advancing responsible gold mining and refining
  • ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards in Ghana’s mining operations
  • The future of digital gold and traceable mineral supply chains
  • Value addition and beneficiation for local economic empowerment
  • Public-private partnership models for sustainable mining
  • Financing and investment pipelines for the gold industry

Organisers say the event is not just another conference, but a milestone engagement that will leave behind a set of practical action points and strategic frameworks for unlocking greater long-term economic value for Ghana. One of the core objectives is to ensure that the benefits of the gold sector are felt more deeply across communities and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s industrialisation agenda.

“Mining has been a critical backbone of Ghana’s economy, but now is the time to reimagine its potential through innovation, accountability, and inclusive growth,” said a senior stakeholder close to the organising team.

Already, buzz around the Mining & Minerals Convention 2025 is growing, with early interest from local and international firms looking to align with Ghana’s new mining agenda. Given Ghana’s leadership in the African gold market, many industry watchers are calling this a rare opportunity to define Africa’s position in the evolving global minerals economy.

Adiza Ibrahim, the lead contact for the convention, revealed that invitations and sponsorship packages have been sent out to leading global mining brands, ESG advisory firms, financiers, and development partners. “We are building something long-lasting — an annual convention that reshapes conversations around mining in Ghana and beyond,” she said.

The event will also feature innovation showcases, digital solutions demonstrations, and a platform for start-ups in mining technology, green logistics, and environmental monitoring to connect with stakeholders.

The Mining & Minerals Convention 2025 is expected to host more than 600 delegates, with representation from West African mining corridors, international donor agencies, diplomatic missions, and global industry associations.
