Hon. Joseph Awal Antwi Encourages BECE Candidates in Brewaniase and Bonakye with Support and Words of Motivation

The Municipal Chief Executive of Nkwanta South, Hon. Joseph Awal Antwi, on Thursday, June 13, 2025, visited two key Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centers in the municipality — Brewaniase and Bonakye — to uplift and motivate candidates as they sat for their final papers. The visit formed part of a broader effort by local authorities to support academic excellence and promote integrity in the education system.

Hon. Awal Antwi was joined by Mr. Jonathan Korsinah, the Nkwanta South Municipal Director of Education, and Nana Prosper Akamani, the Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The delegation engaged warmly with candidates at both centers, encouraging them to approach the examinations with confidence, discipline, and a strong sense of honesty.

“We believe in the potential of every student here. These exams are not just a test of knowledge, but also a test of character. Avoid any temptation to engage in malpractice — success earned through integrity is the most rewarding,” Hon. Awal Antwi told students during his address at Brewaniase.

He noted that the future of the community lies in the hands of these young learners and reiterated the municipality’s commitment to ensuring they have a fair and enabling environment to excel.

In a show of further support for the candidates, Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Kini, Member of Parliament for Nkwanta South, provided Mathematical Sets to all the students through the Municipal Chief Executive’s office. The sets, which are essential tools for the Mathematics and Science papers, were warmly received by the candidates, who expressed their appreciation for the kind gesture.

One student, speaking on behalf of his peers, said, “We are grateful to our leaders for remembering us. The Mathematical Sets will really help us in our exams. It shows that our success matters to them.”

Mr. Jonathan Korsinah also took the opportunity to remind candidates of the importance of remaining focused and maintaining discipline throughout the exam period. He commended the teachers and invigilators for their continued dedication to upholding standards in the education sector.

Nana Prosper Akamani, in his remarks, added that the NDC would continue to prioritize education as a cornerstone for development in the region. “When students succeed, the community succeeds. We will continue to stand with our young people at every stage of their academic journey,” he said.

The visits to Brewaniase and Bonakye BECE centers follow earlier tours to other examination locations within the municipality. The consistent presence of civic leaders throughout the week has helped to create a positive and reassuring atmosphere for candidates.

  • This latest outreach by Hon. Joseph Awal Antwi and his delegation underscores a collective commitment to youth empowerment, quality education, and community development. The initiative reflects a broader belief that when leaders show up, young people are inspired to rise to the occasion.
