The Truth! Why Hon. Mariam Naigaga Stands Out As The Best Candidate For NRM CEC Position Of National Vice Chairperson-Eastern Uganda!
As the race for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Central Executive Committee (CEC) position of National Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda intensifies, one name is gaining widespread attention and admiration — Hon. Mariam Naigaga.
In a contest largely dominated by men, with seasoned politicians like the incumbent Capt. Mike Mukula, Defense Minister Jacob Oboth Oboth, and Calvin Echodu all throwing their hats in the ring, Hon. Naigaga is not only holding her own but also emerging as a formidable force.
Representing Namutumba District as the Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Naigaga hails from the Busoga sub-region, a key voting bloc in Eastern Uganda.
Her roots in Namutumba give her a unique advantage as she embodies the voice and aspirations of ordinary Eastern Ugandans. Unlike some of her contenders who hail from Soroti and Tororo, Hon. Naigaga’s connection to Busoga allows her to balance representation in the region, which has often called for more inclusive leadership across all its sub-regions.
Hon. Naigaga is not just a political figure by title — she is an active and passionate mobiliser. Her reputation as a people-centered leader is well documented, with numerous grassroots mobilization efforts under her belt.
Her presence in the region is not felt only during election periods but year-round, as she continuously engages with local communities, particularly women and youth. Her advocacy for women’s empowerment has seen her champion initiatives that uplift female entrepreneurs, promote education for girls, and improve maternal health services.
One of her key strengths lies in her unwavering loyalty to the National Resistance Movement and its leadership.
A staunch NRM supporter, Hon. Naigaga enjoys a close working relationship with First Son Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, a figure gaining increasing political significance in Uganda. This connection not only strengthens her visibility within the ruling party but also positions her as someone who can bridge generational and strategic divides within the NRM.
Even more critically, she is a trusted confidant of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the National Chairperson of the NRM. This bond of trust between her and the President speaks volumes about her integrity, discipline, and alignment with the party’s core values.
In an era where loyalty and consistency within party ranks are paramount, Hon. Naigaga stands tall as someone who can be relied upon to carry the party’s torch with dignity and direction.
While her male counterparts bring experience and recognition to the table, Hon. Naigaga brings a fresh and inclusive approach to leadership. Her candidacy presents the NRM with an opportunity to not only promote gender balance at the highest decision-making level but also inject a new level of energy, inclusivity, and grassroots engagement into its Eastern region politics.
Capt. Mike Mukula, the current holder of the seat, has served for years and his contribution is commendable. However, there is a growing call for new voices and fresh perspectives within the party. Minister Jacob Oboth Oboth, though a seasoned legal mind and currently holding a critical national docket, might find his national responsibilities limiting when it comes to dedicating adequate time to the regional and party mobilization needs. Calvin Echodu, while also in the race, does not command the same level of grassroots presence and political goodwill across the Eastern region as Hon. Naigaga.
Hon. Naigaga’s entry into the race symbolizes a generational shift — a bridge between the historical legacy of the NRM and the future aspirations of its next generation. She understands the unique challenges facing Eastern Uganda — from poverty and youth unemployment to underdeveloped infrastructure and gender disparities. Her track record in Parliament and at the grassroots level shows a leader willing to listen, consult, and act.
In this critical moment, the NRM must choose a leader who not only carries the party banner high but also resonates deeply with the ordinary people of Eastern Uganda. Hon. Mariam Naigaga is that leader. A mother, a mobiliser, a trailblazer, and above all, a loyal cadre of the movement.
As she battles three influential men, Hon. Naigaga’s courage, clarity of vision, and unshakable dedication to the party ideals make her the best candidate for the National Vice Chairperson Eastern region. The time is ripe for the NRM to make a bold, inclusive, and forward-looking decision — by standing with Hon. Mariam Naigaga. Watch this space!
