Former Argentina striker Sergio Aguero has stated that the signing of Kylian Mbappe does not automatically ensure Real Madrid will win the Champions League. Despite Madrid securing a record-extending 15th title last season, Aguero emphasized that success in the competition requires more than just one star player.
Since joining Real Madrid as a free agent this summer, Mbappe has made an impressive start, scoring four goals in his first six matches. Aguero acknowledged that Real Madrid is favored to win the competition again, but stressed that teamwork remains crucial.
“Nobody’s ever been able to count Real Madrid out. No need to say that. Mbappe joining them only serves to make them a bigger threat,” Aguero said. He also predicted that Mbappe is likely to become La Liga’s top scorer, known as the Pichichi.
Nevertheless, Aguero pointed out that individual brilliance alone does not guarantee success. “A single player doesn’t make the difference. The team does. There’s many of those vying to take the Champions, and they’ll fight tooth-and-nail for it,” he added.
As Real Madrid gears up for another season, the focus will be on integrating Mbappe into the squad and ensuring that the team functions cohesively to pursue both domestic and European glory.
