On the 6th of January 2026, the British High Commission in Accra launched its maiden Diaspora Economic Growth Summit, aimed at strengthening UK–Ghana relations through the power of the diaspora.
Held in partnership with the Bank of Ghana, the conference highlighted a shared commitment to deepening economic cooperation between Ghana and the United Kingdom through meaningful and structured diaspora engagement.
Award-winning creator, producer, and journalist Peace Hyde delivered the keynote address, focusing on the power of storytelling as a bridge connecting two global cities — London and Accra.
The British-Ghanaian media executive is the creator and executive producer of the hit Netflix reality television series Young, Famous and African. She remains the only Ghanaian with an original Netflix production deal and is among a select group of African producers with multi-million-dollar partnerships with the world’s leading global streaming platform.
In her inspirational address, Peace Hyde reflected on her remarkable journey from working as a science teacher in the United Kingdom to building a fast-growing global media empire. Her story has become symbolic of her rise as a media powerhouse.
She has been recognised by GQ Magazine as the architect of Africa’s Unscripted TV revolution, a title that underscores her influence in reshaping African storytelling for international audiences.
