The Afro-Arab Group, led by its Chairman, Ambassador Alhaji Salamu Amadu, has officially launched its Work-and-Pay Electric Vehicle (EV) Programme, fulfilling a major commitment to create 2,000 direct and indirect jobs through the deployment of 1,000 electric vehicles.
The programme was officially launched on Monday, 23rd February, 2026, at the Afro-Arab Group office in Kokomlemle, Accra.
At the launch, 50 electric vehicles were handed over to beneficiaries, with assurance that the remaining 950 vehicles will be delivered in phases within the shortest possible time as part of the broader green transition agenda.
The initiative was officially launched by the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama. In his remarks, the Minister lauded the Afro-Arab Group on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama for championing the Green Drive Initiative and for taking practical steps to address youth unemployment while promoting environmentally friendly transportation.
He noted that the programme aligns with government’s commitment to youth development and empowerment, adding that initiatives of this nature will not only stimulate economic activity but also reduce the unemployment rate among young people.
The ceremony was witnessed by key stakeholders including representatives from Imperial General Insurance, Republic Bank Ghana, and AETS Ghana.
In his welcome address, Ambassador Alhaji Salamu Amadu stated that unemployment remains a significant threat to Ghana’s socio-economic development. He reaffirmed that the Afro-Arab Group, under his leadership as a Youth Ambassador for Peace and Development, businessman, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, will continue to implement practical and impact-driven solutions that create sustainable jobs and empower the youth.
He emphasized that the Work-and-Pay EV initiative forms part of the Group’s broader commitment to supporting livelihoods, promoting innovation, and serving Ghana through inclusive and results-oriented development projects.
