Accra, 23rd February 2026 – Vivo Energy Ghana PLC, the exclusive distributor and marketer of Shell-branded fuels and lubricants, has donated syringe and infusion pumps to the Department of Child Health at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital as part of its annual Energising Hope initiative held in celebration of Valentine’s Day.
The donation addresses the growing need for critical medical equipment in high-demand healthcare facilities. Limited access to essential tools can slow diagnosis, delay treatment and increase pressure on healthcare professionals. In paediatric care, where precision and timeliness are crucial, such challenges can significantly affect recovery outcomes. The newly donated syringe and infusion pumps will support accurate and automated delivery of fluids, medication and nutrients to young patients, strengthening the department’s capacity to provide quality care.
Presenting the items, the Managing Director of Vivo Energy Ghana, Mr Christian Li, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to responsible corporate citizenship.
“At Vivo Energy Ghana, caring is not just a value we speak about; it is one we practise. Energising Hope reminds us that our responsibility extends beyond energy solutions. It is about impacting lives, supporting communities and demonstrating compassion where it matters most. Children represent the future, and we are proud to contribute to their healing and well-being,” he said.
He explained that the Valentine season offers employees the opportunity to translate the spirit of love into meaningful community engagement.
Beyond the equipment donation, Mr Christian Li and a team of employees visited the children’s ward, presenting roses and chocolates to patients receiving treatment. The gesture brought smiles to the ward as children, parents and caregivers welcomed the interaction and expressed appreciation for the support.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Department of Child Health, Paediatric Oncologist Dr Ernestina Schandorf described the donation as timely and impactful. She noted that the equipment will enhance the department’s ability to automate fluid, medication or nutrient delivery with precision and treat young patients more effectively, ultimately improving healthcare delivery for children under treatment.
Hospital officials also commended Vivo Energy Ghana for extending kindness beyond the donation, stating that the engagement with children and families helped uplift spirits and reinforce hope among patients and caregivers.
The Energising Hope initiative remains a key annual activity for Vivo Energy Ghana, bringing employees together each year to extend compassion and support to underserved communities. The initiative aligns with the company’s vision to be Africa’s leading and most respected energy business by combining operational excellence with purposeful community engagement.
