Wizkid Brags About His Star Power After Snubbing Davido at a London Club

Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, took to social media to showcase his star power following a brief but telling incident involving his colleague, Davido, at a club in London. The two megastars, who have been entangled in a long-standing beef, found themselves under the same roof on Friday night, and the encounter has since become a hot topic in the entertainment world.

According to reports from DAILY POST, Wizkid strolled past Davido’s table while the two were at the same club, a subtle yet significant action that seemed to emphasize the ongoing tension between the two Nigerian music heavyweights. Davido, known for his association with the 30 Billion Gang, was partying with his crew, while Wizkid was at the club to support his official disc jockey, DJ Tunez, who was performing that night.

The incident, seemingly minor, has gained attention due to the context of their rivalry. Wizkid, after ignoring Davido and his group, went online to make a bold statement, hinting that Davido was seeking his approval. On Saturday morning, Wizkid took to his X (formerly Twitter) account and wrote, “Everybody Dey find Big Wizzy.” The post, though short, was seen by many as a clear jab at Davido, suggesting that despite their tense history, Davido was still looking for some form of validation from Wizkid.

This isn’t the first time the two Afrobeat giants have crossed paths in a nightclub setting. Last year, they were spotted partying together at a club in Lagos, where the pair even embraced, sparking hopes among fans that their feud might be coming to an end. However, things have not been so straightforward since then. While the Lagos encounter had raised expectations of a possible reconciliation, it later became evident that the rivalry was far from over.

Wizkid, during one of his recent social media outbursts, further stoked the flames of their ongoing feud by claiming that Davido was the one always reaching out to him. According to Wizkid, Davido makes efforts to reconnect with him “like a fanboy” wherever he goes. This comment added more fuel to the fire, as it was interpreted by many fans as an attempt by Wizkid to assert his dominance over Davido in both the music scene and their personal interactions.

Davido and Wizkid, two of Nigeria’s most successful and globally recognized artists, have had a complex relationship over the years. While both artists have earned respect for their talents and contributions to the Afrobeat genre, their personal differences have often overshadowed what could have been a mutually supportive relationship between the two. Their rivalry, however, has undeniably contributed to some of the most memorable moments in Nigerian pop culture, as fans from both camps are often drawn into heated debates about who holds the crown as the top Afrobeat artist.

In terms of their respective careers, both artists have seen incredible success. Wizkid, with his Grammy win and global collaborations, has solidified his place as one of Africa’s foremost musical exports. His album Made in Lagos and the hit track Essence featuring Tems achieved international acclaim, opening doors for Afrobeat to reach new audiences. On the other hand, Davido, with his numerous hit songs, record-breaking concerts, and philanthropic efforts, has maintained a massive fan base and continues to dominate charts across Africa and beyond.

Their rivalry, however, seems to be more personal than professional. Fans have long speculated that the tension between the two is rooted in a combination of competition for dominance in the industry and personal differences that have remained unresolved over time. Despite occasional gestures of friendship, such as their embrace in Lagos last year, incidents like the recent snub at the London club suggest that the rivalry is far from being put to rest.

For many fans, the idea of a collaboration between Wizkid and Davido remains a dream, one that would undoubtedly break records and bring the two fanbases together. Yet, with moments like these continuing to surface, it appears that any sort of genuine reconciliation remains a distant possibility.

As for the incident at the London club, it has once again reminded the public of the complexity of their relationship. While Wizkid’s post on social media was light-hearted on the surface, the deeper implications of his comments have fueled further debate. Was it a simple boast, or a deliberate attempt to remind everyone of his standing in the music world, especially in comparison to Davido?

Whatever the case may be, the rivalry between Wizkid and Davido continues to be one of the most captivating storylines in the Afrobeat scene. While fans may hold out hope for a resolution, it’s clear that both artists are comfortable with their positions at the top of their game, and neither seems eager to take a step back.

For now, all eyes are on the two stars to see how their relationship evolves in the coming months. Whether this rivalry continues to escalate or eventually fades into history, one thing is certain—Wizkid and Davido will remain two of the most influential and iconic figures in Nigerian music for years to come.
