Margins ID CEO Calls on Business Leaders to Shape Ghana’s Economic Future

Mr. Moses Kwesi Baiden Jnr, the Chief Executive Officer of Margins ID Group, has urged business leaders to take an active role in shaping policies that drive economic growth and ensure political transparency.

Speaking at the launch of the “1st Ghana CEO-Presidential Manifesto Gala Dinner” in Accra, Mr. Baiden emphasized that the future Ghana aspires to will not come about by chance but through deliberate action and engagement.

“It will happen because we choose to stand up, engage, and demand more from ourselves and those in leadership,” Mr. Baiden stated, stressing the need for a proactive approach by the business community to influence national policies and governance.

Baiden described the Gala Dinner as a turning point, calling it both a symbol of progress and a call to action for Ghana’s business and political landscape. He noted that the event provided an unparalleled opportunity for business leaders to voice their concerns and collaborate closely with political figures, paving the way for sustainable economic progress. By engaging directly with the highest level of political leadership, business leaders can play a crucial role in building a future where business thrives alongside good governance.

Mr. Baiden highlighted that this gathering was more than just a forum for discussion—it was about setting an agenda for the future, rooted in collaboration. He outlined how the business community plans to challenge political leaders to fulfill their promises, promote innovation and entrepreneurship, and ensure that Ghana remains a hub of opportunity for future generations.

Baiden also stressed that sustainable growth could only be achieved through action, accountability, and collaboration between the private sector and political leadership. He underscored Ghana’s vast economic potential, not only in natural resources like gold, oil, and cocoa but also in its people, entrepreneurs, and capacity for innovation. “We need a governance system that aligns with this potential, removes barriers to growth, and empowers our businesses to compete on the global stage,” Mr. Baiden added.

In addition, Baiden proposed several strategic recommendations to guide the country’s path toward sustainable growth. These included establishing a Permanent Business Advisory Council to drive policy reforms, overhauling the regulatory environment, strengthening the digital economy, and prioritizing evidence-based policymaking. He argued that these initiatives were essential for building a strong, resilient, and inclusive economy for Ghana.

Mr. Baiden described the Gala as a movement—a platform where the business community and political leadership could come together to forge a new path toward economic progress and political accountability. The event was not just about discussing the present challenges but about laying the foundation for long-term change and growth.

The theme of the Gala, “Reigniting the Business Economy and Social Contract for Growth: A Business Manifesto for Political Accountability and Sustainable Development,” emphasized the urgent need for business leaders to help shape policies that foster economic development and promote political transparency. Baiden called on business leaders to take up the mantle of leadership and be part of this important dialogue.

As part of the event, Baiden emphasized the importance of commitments emerging from the platform, particularly through the signing of social contracts and the promotion of Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs). These commitments, he said, would create an enabling environment for businesses and secure Ghana’s future. He urged business leaders to continue participating in this historic conversation, highlighting the need for a collective effort to drive economic growth.

Ernest De-Graft Egyir, Founding CEO of Chief Executives Network Ghana, also spoke at the event, echoing Mr. Baiden’s sentiments. He stressed that despite challenges such as economic instability, Ghana still has immense untapped potential. He noted that the Gala would feature the signing of a social contract by the flagbearers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), both publicly committing to principles of good governance and economic collaboration.

George Ankomah, Lead Tax Partner of Deloitte, also addressed the gathering, delivering a keynote speech on behalf of Daniel Kwadwo Owusu, Country Managing Partner of Deloitte Ghana. Ankomah emphasized the need for collaboration between business and political leaders to achieve sustainable growth. He argued that while political manifestos offer a vision of the future, real progress depends on coordinated action between the private sector and political leadership.

The Gala, organized by the Chief Executives Network Ghana in collaboration with Deloitte, PwC, the University of Ghana, UPSA Law School, and the Multimedia Group, will serve as an important platform for CEOs and political leaders to align strategies for economic growth and social responsibility beyond 2025. With these initiatives, business leaders are being called upon to engage with political leaders to foster an environment that promotes growth, transparency, and sustainable development for Ghana.
