Black Sherif Is The New Face Of Ghana Music, Says Sam Creatives

By Dickson Boadi

Young Ghanaian fashion designer and Chief Executive Officer of Sam Creatives, Samuel Clottey, has described award winning musician Black Sherif as the new face of Ghanaian music.

According to him, Black Sherif’s growth, creativity and approach to his craft have positioned him as one of the leading artistes capable of carrying Ghanaian music to the next level.

Mr Clottey said he would not be surprised if Black Sherif becomes the first Ghanaian musician to win a Grammy Award, citing the artiste’s consistency and the way he continues to develop his sound and musical identity.

“Black Sherif is the new face of Ghana Music. I won’t be surprised if he emerges as the first Grammy Award winner for Ghana,” he said.

The Sam Creatives boss believes Black Sherif’s songwriting and composition, coupled with his ability to connect with audiences, demonstrate a strong desire to make a lasting impact on the Ghanaian music industry.

His comments come as Black Sherif continues to promote his latest project, SUN SHERIF, a six track EP released in September 2026.

The project features “Expresso”, “Run Around”, “Forever” featuring AratheJay, “Jolie”, “Frontline” and “Love Again” featuring Trinidadian duo Full Blown.

SUN SHERIF adds to Black Sherif’s growing body of work, following his debut album, The Villain I Never Was, released in 2022, and his 2025 album, IRON BOY.

For Mr Clottey, however, Black Sherif’s rise goes beyond music releases, awards and commercial success.

He believes the artiste has deliberately built a distinctive identity around his music and personal brand, something he considers important for any Ghanaian artiste seeking to make an impact beyond the country.

Mr Clottey’s assessment also comes from his experience in Ghana’s fashion and entertainment industry through Sam Creatives, a brand that has styled some of the country’s biggest music personalities.

Sam Creatives is known for styling legendary Ghanaian musicians including Samini, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Medikal and Amerado.

The brand has also worked with personalities in the clergy and business community, including Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah and some business moguls.

Mr Clottey said the connection between music, fashion and personal branding has become increasingly important, particularly for artistes who want to establish themselves as complete brands.

He believes Black Sherif’s ability to maintain a distinct identity while evolving musically is one of the qualities that could help him achieve greater international recognition.

With SUN SHERIF adding another chapter to his career, Black Sherif continues to attract attention for his sound, storytelling and artistic direction.

For Samuel Clottey, the expectation is that the young musician will continue to refine his craft and use his growing international platform to contribute to the advancement of Ghanaian music.
