Cheddar never paid me – Shalimar Abbiusi breaks silence on her arrest

Shalimar Abbiusi, former spokesperson for the New Force political movement has spoken publicly for the first time since her arrest in an exclusive interview on Konnected Minds Podcast, offering her account of how she became involved with the New Force Party and the events that eventually led to her arrest.

According to Abbiusi, her initial contact with the New Force Party came directly through the leader and candidate for the New Force Party, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as “Cheddar,”.

There was a conversation initially, and the leader of the New Force said we are still looking for people to join our team. We have a movement for the youth to speak on certain things and get more job opportunities and I was like wow that’s really amazing and that’s when I was offered the spokesperson for the movement. Shalimar stated.

Asked by the host, Derrick Abaitey if she saw what she was doing as a charitable work or as a job, she explained that at the time, she was made to understand the initiative was a charitable organization rather than a political party.

It was absolutely something that I saw as a charitable project to advocate for humanity because that is what I was told that it’s a movement to empower the youth without knowing it had a a political tone or background and I was not aware at that point, so I thought I was going to be the face for a movement, a charitable movement and basically the face of a humanitarian project which I personally love to do. Abbiusi added.

The Belgian-born humanitarian and former beauty queen further claims she was asked to record the viral video as a professional shoot without being fully informed of its political implications at the time of filming.

According to her, there was no formal contract or written agreement outlining the scope, purpose, or political use of the content.

So then they said let’s record a video and I said why not? We were still working on finalizing a contract so there was no contract in place or anything when the video was shot. Shalimar .

Abbiusi added that she was not paid for the video and did not receive any financial compensation for her involvement.

I was never paid for that video. She admitted.

Abbiusi reveals that the situation surrounding the video and her association with the New Force Party later contributed to immigration related complications, which ultimately led to her arrest. She presented this as part of her explanation for the legal and political issues that followed and one she calls a blessing in disguise.

The interview has since attracted widespread attention, reigniting public debate around the New Force movement and the circumstances surrounding her revelations.
