Exclusive Events Ghana Ltd and Ghana’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Explore Cultural and Tourism Cooperation Ahead of Ghana–Korea Milestones

Seoul, Republic of Korea — 11 September 2026 — Ghana and the Republic of Korea have explored opportunities to deepen cultural, tourism and creative-industry cooperation, with a focus on strengthening people-to-people connections and creating platforms for greater cultural and commercial exchange between the two countries.

The discussions took place during a meeting between H.E. Kojo Choi, Ambassador of Ghana to the Republic of Korea; Senior Officials of the Embassy; and Inna Patty, Esq., Managing Director of Exclusive Events Ghana Limited, Organiser of Miss Ghana and Chair of the Miss Ghana Foundation.

The meeting explored how Ghana’s cultural heritage, tourism assets and creative industries could be leveraged to strengthen Ghana–Korea relations and create meaningful opportunities for cultural exchange, tourism promotion and private-sector collaboration.

The discussions take on particular significance as Ghana approaches several important national and bilateral milestones, including the 70th Anniversary of Ghana’s Independence, the 70th Anniversary of the Miss Ghana brand, and the 50th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between Ghana and the Republic of Korea.

Cultural Diplomacy and Tourism

A key focus of the discussions was the potential for culture and tourism to serve as important bridges between Ghana and Korea.

The parties discussed opportunities to showcase Ghana’s rich cultural heritage, tourism destinations, fashion, textiles, craftsmanship and creative talent to Korean audiences, while creating greater awareness of Ghana as a destination for tourism, cultural experiences and business.

The proposed initiatives could include cultural showcases, tourism promotion, creative-industry exhibitions and exchanges that bring together Ghanaian and Korean stakeholders.

The Miss Ghana platform, together with the Miss Ghana Foundation and other relevant Ghanaian institutions, could provide a strong platform for promoting Ghanaian culture, heritage and tourism while fostering greater people-to-people engagement between the two countries.

Ghanaian Fashion, Textiles and Creative Industries

The meeting also explored opportunities to introduce Ghanaian fashion, textiles, handcrafted accessories and other creative products to the Korean market.

The proposed cultural and commercial exchange could bring together selected Ghanaian designers, creative entrepreneurs and representatives of the Miss Ghana and Mr Ghana platforms with Korean counterparts for exhibitions, cultural showcases and business networking.

The initiative would seek to create opportunities for Ghanaian creative businesses to build relationships in Korea, explore potential market access and develop longer-term commercial partnerships, while also showcasing Ghana’s distinctive cultural identity.

Tourism and Ghana’s Cultural Heritage

The discussions further highlighted the potential to use cultural diplomacy to promote Ghana’s tourism offering and deepen interest in the country’s historical and cultural heritage.

With Ghana preparing for its 70th Independence Anniversary and the Miss Ghana brand approaching its 70th anniversary, the proposed collaboration could provide an opportunity to develop programmes that connect Ghana’s history, culture, tourism and contemporary creative industries with Korean audiences.

Such initiatives could also contribute to strengthening people-to-people ties and encouraging greater cultural and tourism exchanges between Ghana and Korea.

Next Steps

The meeting agreed on the importance of continuing discussions with the relevant Ghanaian and Korean stakeholders to develop practical and achievable areas of cooperation.

The Embassy is expected to liaise further with the relevant institutions and stakeholders, to consider how the proposed cultural, tourism and creative-industry initiatives can be developed into actionable programmes.

The discussions reaffirmed the value of culture and tourism as platforms for strengthening Ghana–Korea relations and creating sustainable opportunities for collaboration, exchange and mutual understanding as both countries approach significant bilateral milestones.
