GFD Pushes for Action on 5% Disability Employment Quota at National Labour Conference

Ho, Volta Region | 26th – 28th June 2026

The Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations [GFD] has used the National Labour Conference to renew calls for the immediate implementation of the 5% employment quota for persons with disabilities.

Held from 26th to 28th June 2026 at the Volta Serene Hotel in Ho, the conference was convened by the National Tripartite Committee under the theme: _“Strengthening Industrial Harmony as a Catalyst for Accelerated Economic Growth and Development.”_

On the sidelines, GFD presented its guideline on the 5% quota to key labour stakeholders. The document was developed in response to the President’s commitment to create more employment opportunities for persons with disabilities and has already been submitted to the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment.

“While we await a response from the Ministry, we are appealing to the TUC to champion this cause,” GFD stated. “We need a strong statement from the TUC at this conference and beyond to ensure the quota is not just on paper, but in practice.”

The appeal puts disability inclusion back on the national labour agenda, as stakeholders discuss policies to drive industrial harmony and economic growth.
