GIMA e.V. Berlin Holds Eid-ul-Adha Prayers At Tempelhofer Feld

Muslims in Berlin came together in large numbers as the Ghana Islamic Multicultural Association, GIMA e.V. Berlin, marked this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebrations with special prayers at Tempelhofer Feld in Germany’s capital city.

The prayer gathering, held on May 27, 2026, brought together worshippers from different cultural and national backgrounds in an atmosphere filled with faith, peace, unity, and reflection.

The event, which started at exactly 10:00 a.m. and ended at 12:00 noon, formed part of activities to commemorate Eid-ul-Adha, one of the most significant celebrations on the Islamic calendar. Men, women, and children gathered at the open grounds of Tempelhofer Feld to observe the sacred occasion through congregational prayers and fellowship.

Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command before Allah provided a ram as a substitute. The celebration symbolizes sacrifice, obedience, devotion, compassion, and generosity among Muslims worldwide.

The prayers at Tempelhofer Feld were led by Dr. Sheikh Nurudeen and Sheikh Ahmed Musah, who delivered sermons centered on peace, sacrifice, unity, patience, and total devotion to Allah.

In their messages to the congregation, the Islamic leaders encouraged Muslims to uphold the values of tolerance, humility, kindness, and togetherness, especially during challenging times facing communities around the world.

The scholars also reminded worshippers about the importance of supporting one another, helping the less privileged, and strengthening unity within the Muslim community irrespective of cultural or national differences.

Participants at the event appeared in colorful traditional outfits, with families arriving early to secure spaces for the congregational prayers. The gathering reflected not only religious devotion but also the rich multicultural identity of Muslims living in Berlin.

Several attendees described the event as peaceful and spiritually uplifting, noting that the large turnout demonstrated the strong bond within the Muslim community in Germany.

Leaders of GIMA e.V. Berlin expressed appreciation to all worshippers, volunteers, and organizers who contributed to the successful celebration.

According to the association, the event served as a platform to strengthen unity among Muslims while promoting peaceful coexistence and cultural diversity within German society.

The leadership of GIMA e.V. Berlin also emphasized the need for Muslims living abroad to continue preserving their religious and cultural values while contributing positively to the communities in which they live.

Beyond the religious significance of the occasion, the Eid gathering also created an opportunity for social interaction among families and friends. After the prayers, worshippers exchanged greetings, interacted warmly with one another, and offered prayers for peace, stability, and prosperity across the world.

Children were also seen celebrating with their families as community members shared moments of joy and togetherness after the prayer session.

The celebration at Tempelhofer Feld highlighted the growing presence and contribution of multicultural Muslim communities in Berlin and across Germany.

GIMA e.V. Berlin has over the years continued to play an active role in promoting unity, religious understanding, cultural identity, and community development among Ghanaians and other Muslim groups living in Germany.

As Muslims across different parts of the world continue to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha, leaders of the association called for peace, mutual respect, and compassion among people of all backgrounds.

The association further extended Eid Mubarak greetings to Muslims worldwide and prayed for continued peace and blessings for humanity.
