Nana Akomea Confident in Bawumia’s Victory in 2024 Elections

Nana Akomea, Vice Chairman of the Bawumia Campaign Team, has expressed strong confidence in the chances of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, to emerge victorious in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

Speaking during an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Face to Face on Channel One TV, Akomea emphasized his belief in the competence of Dr. Bawumia to lead the party to a win, while acknowledging that the ultimate decision rests with the electorate.

During the discussion, Nana Akomea conveyed optimism about the NPP’s ability to secure a majority of parliamentary seats across the country, with a particular focus on the Greater Accra Region. He highlighted the party’s strategy and determination to deliver a strong performance in key areas, believing that these efforts would result in a resounding victory for the NPP in both the presidential and parliamentary elections.

“I’m confident, but it remains at that level of confidence,” Akomea remarked. He acknowledged that similar confidence would likely be expressed by members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) but maintained that the upcoming elections would ultimately reflect the will of the electorate.

“Fortunately for us, in another three weeks, the electorate will speak and everybody will see their confidence level. But I’m optimistic that Dr. Bawumia will win the elections and the NPP will carry parliamentary votes,” he added.

Akomea pointed to the NPP’s track record and the leadership qualities of Dr. Bawumia as key factors that give the party an edge in the elections. He stressed the importance of a well-organized campaign and the ability to connect with voters on critical issues affecting their daily lives. The Vice Chairman also expressed confidence that the electorate would recognize the efforts of the NPP in improving the country’s infrastructure, economy, and governance, which he believes would translate into votes for the party.

When asked about the potential impact of the departure of three Members of Parliament who have decided to contest as independents, Akomea dismissed concerns that this could harm the NPP’s chances of securing a parliamentary majority. “If we have a majority of 20 and we’re going to get a comfortable majority, that is my confidence,” he stated. He further expressed faith in the party’s ability to maintain its strength in Parliament and even increase its numbers, despite the challenges posed by internal divisions or defections.

Nana Akomea also addressed the broader political landscape, noting the competitive nature of the upcoming elections. He emphasized the importance of the party’s grassroots mobilization efforts and the need to engage with voters at all levels to secure their support. According to him, the NPP has a clear vision for the country’s development and a proven track record of delivering results, which he believes will resonate with the electorate.

As the elections draw closer, the NPP has intensified its campaign efforts, with Dr. Bawumia leading the charge. The party has focused on promoting its achievements over the years while outlining its plans for the future. Key areas of focus include economic growth, job creation, infrastructure development, and social interventions aimed at improving the lives of Ghanaians.

Nana Akomea expressed confidence that the message of progress and development being championed by Dr. Bawumia would resonate with voters, particularly in swing regions such as Greater Accra. He underscored the importance of winning a majority of parliamentary seats in these areas to ensure effective governance and the implementation of the party’s policies.

While acknowledging that the NDC remains a formidable opponent, Akomea maintained that the NPP has a stronger case to make to the electorate. He highlighted the achievements of the current administration, including significant strides in education, healthcare, and infrastructure, as evidence of the party’s commitment to the welfare of Ghanaians. According to him, these accomplishments provide a solid foundation for the NPP to build on in the years ahead.

In his closing remarks, Nana Akomea called on party members and supporters to remain united and focused as the elections approach. He emphasized the need for a collaborative effort to ensure a resounding victory for Dr. Bawumia and the NPP. He also urged the electorate to carefully evaluate the track records and visions of the various candidates and political parties before casting their votes.

As Ghanaians prepare to head to the polls, the confidence expressed by Nana Akomea reflects the determination of the NPP to retain power and continue its development agenda. The party’s leadership remains optimistic about its prospects, despite the challenges posed by a highly competitive political environment.

With just a few weeks remaining until the elections, the political landscape in Ghana continues to heat up, with both the NPP and the NDC ramping up their campaigns in a bid to win over voters. While the outcome remains uncertain, Nana Akomea’s unwavering confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s ability to secure victory underscores the high stakes and intense competition that characterize the 2024 general elections.
