President Akufo-Addo Inaugurates Hospitals Under Agenda 111 Initiative

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will today, December 5, 2024, inaugurate multiple hospitals under the government’s flagship Agenda 111 initiative, a transformative program aimed at expanding healthcare infrastructure nationwide.

Today’s inauguration will highlight the commissioning of the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipal Hospital at Trede and the Oforikrom Municipal Hospital, both situated in the Ashanti Region. “We have a complete 100-bed hospital with an accident and emergency centre, neonatal and pediatric units, a maternity home, a kitchen, a mortuary, OPD, a pharmacy, an X-ray, and a laboratory,” Dr. Nsiah-Asare explained. “It is a complete hospital. We also have an eye department, dental department, ENT department, consulting rooms, and public health units all within the hospital.”

The Agenda 111 initiative is a central component of President Akufo-Addo’s vision for healthcare reform, which aims to reduce overcrowding at existing hospitals, improve health outcomes, and bring essential services closer to people’s doorsteps. The program is also expected to create jobs during and after construction, stimulating local economies in the process.
