Trump Signs Landmark Bill Ordering Full Release of Jeffrey Epstein Files Within 30 Days

US President Donald Trump has signed a landmark bill mandating the full public release of all files connected to the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein — a move that marks one of the most consequential transparency actions of his administration.

The newly signed legislation compels the US Justice Department to disclose every unclassified record from its Epstein investigation “in a searchable and downloadable format” within 30 days. This includes years of investigative materials, witness testimonies, internal communications, and details of individuals and institutions linked to Epstein’s extensive network.

Trump’s decision represents a dramatic reversal. For years, he resisted growing pressure to release the files, but in recent weeks, calls from Epstein’s victims, bipartisan lawmakers, and even members of his own party became overwhelming. With Trump’s endorsement, the bill sailed through Congress, receiving near-unanimous approval in the House and full bipartisan consent in the Senate.

Announcing the signing, Trump wrote on his Truth Social account:
“Perhaps the truth about these Democrats, and their associations with Jeffrey Epstein, will soon be revealed, because I HAVE JUST SIGNED THE BILL TO RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES!”

While Trump could have ordered the releases unilaterally, lawmakers insisted on a formal legal mandate to prevent future administrations from blocking access or delaying disclosures. The House approved the bill in a 427–1 vote, marking one of the most bipartisan actions in recent congressional history. The Senate followed swiftly.

What the Released Files Will Contain

The legislation requires Attorney General Pam Bondi to release an expansive archive of Epstein-related documents, including:

  • Transcripts from victim and witness interviews
  • Materials seized during federal raids on Epstein’s properties
  • Internal Justice Department correspondence
  • Flight logs
  • Communications with individuals linked to Epstein
  • Documents connected to his co-conspirator, Ghislaine Maxwell

These records are distinct from the 20,000 pages of Epstein estate documents released by Congress last week — a release that already generated significant public debate after revealing direct references to Trump and other high-profile figures.

Among those documents were messages Epstein sent in 2018, bragging about his leverage over Trump. “I am the one able to take him down” and “I know how dirty donald is,” Epstein wrote in two separate exchanges.

Political Fallout and Rising Tensions

The new disclosures are expected to reignite political tensions across Washington. Trump has repeatedly insisted that Republicans have “nothing to do with Epstein,” framing the scandal as a “Democrat problem.” Despite their past friendship, Trump says he cut ties with Epstein long before the financier’s first arrest in 2006.

“We had a falling out—big one—and I was proven right,” Trump told reporters earlier this week. “The Democrats were Epstein’s friends, all of them.”

However, Epstein’s social and political network extended across both major parties. His associations included individuals from the Trump and Clinton circles, academia, Silicon Valley, the media, and international royalty.

The new files, once released, are expected to shed unprecedented light on a network that has for years remained shielded by redactions, sealed records, and legal settlements.

Response From Victims’ Families

In a powerful statement, the family of Virginia Giuffre — one of Epstein’s most prominent accusers who died by suicide earlier this year — described Trump’s decision as “nothing short of monumental.”

Her brother and sister-in-law, Sky and Amanda Roberts, said:
“As we look toward the next chapter, we remain vigilant. This work is not finished. Every name must be revealed, regardless of power, wealth, or party affiliation.”

For survivor advocates, the release represents a long-awaited step toward justice, transparency, and accountability.

Lingering Concerns and Potential Loopholes

Despite the breakthrough, not everyone is convinced the files will be released without hurdles.

Congressman Thomas Massie, who co-authored the bill, warned that federal agencies could invoke exemptions to shield certain information.
“I’m concerned they may use ongoing investigations as a predicate for withholding files,” he said.

Under the law, the Attorney General may redact portions that:

  • Endanger ongoing investigations
  • Reveal the identities of minor victims
  • Interfere with future prosecutions
  • Violate privacy protections

Still, Massie and other lawmakers argue that clear deadlines and mandatory transparency requirements significantly reduce the risk of obscuring critical information.

Broader Implications for Universities, Corporations, and Political Figures

The fallout from the Epstein scandal continues to ripple across major institutions. On Wednesday, former Harvard president Larry Summers stepped aside from teaching duties pending internal review of his communications with Epstein — including a series of friendly email exchanges.

Other institutions with past Epstein ties, including MIT, JPMorgan Chase, and several philanthropic organizations, may find themselves facing renewed scrutiny once the Justice Department’s records become public.

A Turning Point in the Epstein Saga

Jeffrey Epstein died in 2019 in a Manhattan jail cell, with the coroner ruling his death a suicide. He was awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. His longtime associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, is currently serving a 20-year sentence.

The new legislation marks a major turning point — potentially the most significant public disclosure of the Epstein case since his death. For families seeking justice and for millions demanding answers, the next 30 days could bring long-awaited clarity.

As the countdown begins, the world now awaits the release of one of the most sensitive and politically explosive document troves in modern US history.
