Twellium Honoured as Ultimate Beverage Manufacturing Brand of the Decade

Twellium Industrial Company Limited has been named Ultimate Beverage Manufacturing Brand of the Decade at the sixth edition of the National Governance and Business Leadership Awards 2026, recognising its growth in manufacturing, product development and regional expansion.

In a related achievement, Verna Mineral Water received the Outstanding Environmental Sustainability Initiative of the Year award for its No Seal, Less Waste programme, which seeks to reduce unnecessary plastic packaging.

The two awards recognise different aspects of the company’s operations, highlighting Twellium’s manufacturing development and Verna’s efforts to reduce packaging waste.

Founded in Ghana in 2013 by Hussein Kesserwani and Hassan Kesserwani, Twellium began production on February 4, 2014. Since then, the company has expanded its production capacity and developed a diverse portfolio of beverages and food products.

Its brands include Verna Mineral Water, Rush Energy Drink, Bigoo, Planet, American Cola and Bubble Up, which have established a presence in Ghana’s competitive consumer goods market.

Twellium has also diversified into the baking industry with McBerry biscuits, wafers, cookies and cakes. Its Rosa Premium Glass Water and the recently introduced Dairy One range further demonstrate the company’s efforts to expand its product offerings.

The company’s growth has been supported by investments in manufacturing infrastructure and production capacity, strengthening its position in Ghana’s industrial and consumer goods sectors.

In Ghana, Twellium operates production facilities in the Accra area and Kumasi. Its regional manufacturing presence also includes Bobo-Dioulasso in Burkina Faso and company-reported local production in Sindia, Senegal.

This footprint allows the company to combine exports from Ghana with production closer to consumers in selected West African markets.

The Ghana Export Promotion Authority lists Burkina Faso, Liberia, Mali and Côte d’Ivoire among Twellium’s export destinations, reflecting its participation in regional trade.

Verna’s No Seal, Less Waste initiative earned recognition for its approach to reducing packaging materials. By removing additional plastic seals from its bottles, the programme seeks to limit unnecessary plastic use at source.

The initiative focuses on reducing material consumption through packaging decisions rather than relying solely on waste management after products have been used.

It also reflects the objectives of Sustainable Development Goal 12, which promotes responsible consumption and production. The recognition adds to the wider discussion about how manufacturers can reduce the environmental impact of consumer products.

Twellium’s investment in effluent treatment also forms part of its broader environmental management efforts alongside its manufacturing operations.

Beyond its commercial activities, the company supports social interventions through the Twellium Foundation and Verna Changing Lives, with programmes associated with healthcare, education and livelihoods.

Its documented interventions include donations of incubators and phototherapy equipment to health facilities, assistance with medical treatment, community infrastructure support and contributions to Ghana’s national amputee football team.

These initiatives extend the company’s involvement into community development and support for essential services.

The latest recognition adds to Twellium’s industry honours, following its designation as Most Innovative Company of the Decade at the 2026 Ghana Manufacturing Awards.

While the manufacturing award recognises the company’s development and product innovation, Verna’s sustainability distinction draws attention to the role of packaging choices in reducing waste.

The awards come as Twellium continues to expand its product portfolio, invest in production facilities and participate in regional markets.

For the company, the honours mark another milestone in its manufacturing journey, while Verna’s recognition highlights packaging reduction as one practical way consumer brands can pursue more responsible production.
