MILO Under 13 Champions League Launched

The Nestlé Ghana Head Office in Dzorwulu was filled with excitement as Salomé Azevedo, Managing Director of Nestlé Ghana, officially launched the MILO Under 13 Champions League, a youth football tournament dedicated to nurturing young talents and advancing sports development in Ghana. The ceremony brought together key dignitaries, including the Chief Director of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, as well as representatives from the Ghana Education Service and Ghana Football Association.

In her remarks, Azevedo underscored the transformative role of football in shaping young lives, emphasizing the sport’s power to impart essential life skills, instill discipline, and uncover hidden abilities. She noted that the tournament, open to schoolchildren aged 9 to 13, will offer a strong platform for budding footballers to display their abilities and strengthen their passion for the game.

Myron Otoo also reiterated Nestlé Ghana’s unwavering commitment to youth development, explaining that the MILO Under 13 Champions League has consistently engaged over 100,000 schoolchildren annually across the country. He stressed that initiatives like this reflect the company’s ongoing investment in the next generation.

Former Black Stars captain and brand icon for the 2025 edition, Dede Ayew, highlighted the significance of teamwork, discipline, and dedication in achieving success on and off the field. He praised Nestlé Ghana and the Ghana Education Service for their longstanding dedication to youth empowerment through sports.

Azevedo, who was appointed Managing Director of Nestlé Ghana in June 2025, brings over two decades of experience in diverse commercial leadership roles. She currently oversees Nestlé operations in Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.

The tournament will feature schools from all regions of Ghana, competing across district, zonal, and national levels. More than 20,000 children are expected to participate this year, with the best-performing schools advancing to the grand finale.
