Accra, Ghana, July 6, 2026 – MobileMoney Fintech LTD (MMFL) has commenced a nationwide Know Your Customer (KYC) update exercise for all Mobile Money (MoMo) Agents and Merchants as part of efforts to strengthen the security of Ghana’s mobile money ecosystem, improve the accuracy of customer records, safeguard businesses against fraud and other financial crimes, and meet regulatory requirements.
The nationwide exercise is currently underway and will run until October 31, 2026. To facilitate a smooth process, MMFL has established designated hotspot locations across various towns where Agents and Merchants can conveniently update their records through the Smart Onboarding Portal. They may also complete the update independently by visiting https://momoonboarding.mtn.com.gh/login
To complete the KYC update, Agents and Merchants are required to have the following documents available:
- A valid Ghana Card.
- Relevant business registration documents, including a Business Registration Certificate.
- Form A or Form C.
- Municipal or District Assembly Certificate.
Once the required documents are ready, the update process takes only a few minutes to complete. Throughout the process, Agents and Merchants will receive SMS notifications at every stage—from submission and verification to approval—keeping them informed of the status of their application.
Speaking on the importance of the exercise, the Chief Commercial Operations Officer of MobileMoney Fintech LTD, Abdul Razak Issaka Ali, said the initiative demonstrates the company’s commitment to protecting the businesses of its partners while maintaining a secure, trusted and resilient digital financial ecosystem.
“As mobile money continues to play a critical role in the daily lives of millions of Ghanaians, maintaining accurate records is essential to protecting the integrity of the ecosystem and ensuring uninterrupted service delivery. Our Agents and Merchants are at the heart of the Mobile Money ecosystem, and protecting their businesses remains a priority for us,” he said.
He further urged all Agents and Merchants to complete the exercise well ahead of the deadline.
“This KYC update is an important step in ensuring our records remain accurate, strengthening security across the network, and meeting regulatory requirements. We encourage all Agents and Merchants to complete the process early to continue enjoying seamless and secure Mobile Money services,” he added.
MMFL cautioned that Agents and Merchants who fail to complete the KYC update by the October 31, 2026 deadline may experience service restrictions until their records have been successfully updated.
For assistance during the exercise, Agents and Merchants are encouraged to contact their Territory Sales Coordinators (TSCs), visit the nearest MobileMoney Customer Service (MCS) outlet, or engage their respective Agent Association leadership.
The company also reminded Agents and Merchants to remain vigilant against fraud throughout the exercise. MMFL advised participants to use only official MobileMoney Fintech LTD channels for the KYC update and never disclose their Mobile Money PIN or One-Time Password (OTP) to anyone.
MobileMoney Fintech LTD reaffirmed its commitment to building Ghana’s digital future by unlocking growth and opportunities for everyone through innovative financial solutions that empower individuals, businesses and communities to thrive.
