UGANDA-Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director Sharifah Buzeki has requested Buganda Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga to add his voice to that of KCCA to propagate the message of proper handling of rubbish among Kampalans and all Ugandans.

The ED, made the remarks during a meeting with the Katikkiro at his office in Bulange-Mmengo where she led a team to support the upcoming Kabaka Birthday Run event. The event is themed ‘Men as Pillars to Fight against HIV/AIDS to Save the Girl Child by 2030’!

Addressing the function, ED Buzeki who was dressed in a well tailored gomesi with a matching veil, informed the Katikkiro that KCCA needs every stakeholder’s support towards in order to achieve it’s goal of having a cleaner City.

“As KCCA, we need Kampalans to be healthy and we want them to live in good condition. We want our city to be free of floods so that people who live or work in it can enjoy it. Therefore, we humbly request you join us in propagating the gospel for all Kampalans and Ugandans to maintain proper hygiene and sanitation” she she said.

In her message to the Katikkiro, she urged him to use his office to sensitize the people to be mindful of the way they deal with rubbish. She guided that they need to collect rubbish and sort it according to it’s nature.

“The rotting rubbish should be separated from plastics. Secondly, people need to be cautious on how they dispose of that rubbish” she urged.

Buzeki also hailed the theme of this year’s Kabaka’s Birthday Run saying it aligns very well with both government and KCCA’s priority areas.

“We had to come in to support this cause because the theme resonates with our plans. In our plans, we have given the girl child priority. This year’s theme is therefore, noble and that’s why we are here to give our support” she said before announcing a package of Shs5m to go towards buying birthday run kits.

The ED pledged KCCA’s continued support to Buganda, saying issues that affect it, also concern the Authority because of its geographical location.

“I take this opportunity to thank you for granting us the opportunity to meet you and your administration and we’re delighted to be your subjects who are serving you with dignity and we pledge to continue supporting Buganda in all ways” she said.

The Katikkiro commended Buzeki for the contribution and pledged the kingdom’s commitment to strengthen cooperation with KCCA and also support it’s programs.
