Accra, Ghana – July 25, 2025 – The Mfantsiman Old Girls’ Association (MOGA) has officially announced the 2025 edition of its annual National Health Walk, a signature event set to unite thousands of alumnae of Mfantsiman Girls’ Senior High School across the globe in a single day of wellness, unity, and celebration.
Scheduled for Saturday, August 2, 2025, the event will be held under the inspiring theme: “Purple Steps, Healthy Hearts, One MOGA.” This year’s edition is expected to be the most expansive yet, with simultaneous walks taking place in Accra, Koforidua, Kumasi, Swedru/Winneba, Cape Coast, Takoradi, and across various MOGA chapters in the diaspora.
According to the National Executive Committee of MOGA, the health walk aims not only to promote preventive health and encourage physical activity but also to foster a strong sense of sisterhood, shared identity, and wellness advocacy among members.
“This year’s simultaneous walk across regions and the diaspora reflects our strength as a global sisterhood,” said Shirley Tony Kum, Vice President of MOGA. “Our theme for the year encapsulates our collective commitment to healthier lifestyles and stronger connections.”
The flagship Accra edition will commence at 6:30 a.m. at the Stadium Car Park, University of Ghana, with participants set to walk across the university campus. The day’s activities will go beyond walking, featuring an aerobic workout session led by certified fitness instructors, free health screenings (including blood pressure checks, glucose level tests, and BMI evaluations), and interactive wellness sessions with professional healthcare practitioners.
MOGA is also extending invitations to a number of prominent old student associations to join the event, underscoring the unifying potential of such health-centered social engagements. These include alumni groups from Adisadel College, Mfantsipim School, Wesley Girls’ High School, Holy Child School, St. Augustine’s College, Ghana National College, and Aggrey Memorial.
“We believe in building bridges beyond our school walls,” added Kum. “Inviting fellow old student associations fosters networking and collective advocacy for healthier living across Ghana’s educated communities.”
The 2025 walk has attracted strong corporate backing, with several renowned brands and institutions joining as sponsors. Among them are Voltic Ghana Limited, Blue Skies Company Limited, FanMilk Ghana, Mr. Yoghurt, Aramex, Shades of Sam, Qualicare, St. Michael’s Hospital, and a broad range of media partners committed to promoting the event’s vision and amplifying its impact.
Organizers are optimistic that this year’s edition will attract over 500 participants in Accra alone, with even more expected across regional and international chapters. Families, friends, and the general public are also invited to take part.
In line with MOGA’s longstanding commitment to empowerment, education, and health advocacy, the National Health Walk continues to serve as a platform for members to reconnect, reflect on shared values, and champion initiatives that impact the broader society positively.
“At the heart of MOGA’s mission is the commitment to uplift women and communities,” Kum emphasized. “Our health walk embodies this mission in action—creating space for fun, fitness, and forward-looking conversations about health and wellness.”
With preparations in high gear and regional coordinators mobilizing alumnae across Ghana and beyond, the MOGA National Health Walk 2025 promises to be a vibrant blend of exercise, camaraderie, and purposeful engagement. MOGA also invites corporate institutions, NGOs, and health-focused organizations to partner with them in this initiative to promote wellness and community development.
